Make your own jewelry out of electrical wire! This wire ring is super cute and not what you would expect for DIY Jewelry. I was recently in one of those weird crafting moods and I wanted to make something different and fun. Well, this is what I made.
Isn’t it cute? Can you believe it is made with Electrical Wire?
Because it is!
I found this picture while browsing Pinterest and thought these looked so cute! When I clicked on the link it took me to Recyclart but there was no mention of who created it so I can’t really give the credit to anyone. But I thought I could figure it out, AND I did so I am going to share it with you!
Now before I start I have to tell you this isn’t this easiest thing to make. I made several attempts before I was happy with the finished product. But maybe since you have a tutorial to follow it won’t take you as many times as it did me. Here is how the ring progressed over different tries.
Start off with about 18 inches of coated electrical wire. Wrap it around the finger you will want to wear it on but make it just a little bit bigger. You will want to wrap the wire around twice.
Start to wrap the wire above the end of the wire.
Wrap the wire several times around the 2 strands that make the ring.
You will want to loop it over several times to cover the raw end of the wire.
It will messy until you pull the wire tight.
Loop around about 5 times. Pull the end through the last two loops. You will have to loosen the loops to get the end through but you can pull it tight again by pulling on the end
Trim the end with a pair of wire cutters as close to the ring as you can.
It should look something like this. With a pair of jewelry or needle nose pliers pull the end nice and tight.
When you pulled it tight you should be able to roll the loops around so you can cover the end.
You don’t want to be able to see the end on the underside because then the wires may poke you and make it uncomfortable to wear.
And there you have it! Now you have a fun, unique ring and no one will believe you when you tell them what it is made out of!
