How Ulike IPL Device Works:
First I want to point out that IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. This handheld device is not laser hair removal.
The Ulike Air 3 emits intense flashes of light, using a clinically approved hair removal method that specifically targets the melanin within hair follicles.
This light disrupts the hair growth cycle, leading to thinner, slower regrowth, and eventually, a halt in hair growth altogether.
Progression:
Week 1 -4: Apply treatments 3 times a week and hair will grow back thinner, softer, and slower.
Week 5-12: Perform touch-ups every two weeks or on a monthly basis to target hairs in their growth phase.
Results: Once you've completed the entire treatment cycle, you should notice a hair-free treatment area.
While IPL effectiveness may differ from person to person, adhering to the recommended treatment schedule is crucial for achieving the desired results.
Unboxing: First Impressions
The IPL device is beautifully package, and mmeditaly feels like a high end spa experience.
THe front edge of the box flips open to reveal the contents.
The device is nicely packed into a beautiful case that can easily be used for storage.
Inside you will find instruction manuals, foldable sunglasses, disposable razor, power adaptor, power cord, and the Air 3 Handset.
The handset is absolutely gorgeous, I love that purple!
The handset measures 2.25 x 7 inches and is about 1.25 inches thick. It is the perfect size for holding and only weighs 10 ounces.
The foldable IPL Safety Glasses are also very convenient.
I love that they can fold up small.
And unfold to provide great eye protection for when the device is in use.
Saphire-Ice Cooling:
One of the most notable features of the device is the Saphire-Ice Cooling system.
The end of the handset cools when in use so you don't have to press a warm device against your skin.
The cooling is very nice, and kind of feels like you are holding a cold cup to your skin.
Where can it be used?
The Ulike Air 3 can be used on almost every part of your body!
You should however avoid using it directly on your genitals, eyes, tattoes areas, or parts of your skin with open wounds.
How to Use:
Before use, shave any areas that you will be treating. You can use the included razor or use your own.
Plug the handset into the power adaptor, and into your home outlet.
The power button is on the side to turn the device on and off.
The button on the top of the device can be pressed each time to emit the IPL, or you can hold for a moment till you get the 5 small dots that turns on the Thumbs-Free AutoGlide mode.
I prefer AutoGlide mode then clicking manually, but it can be turned of if you prefer that method.
When you first turn the handset on, it starts in Soft Mode, and that is indicated with one bar at the top of the handset.
Short press the power button on the side to turn on Body Mode, and that is indicated with two bars at the top of the handset.
Short press the power button on the side again, to turn on Power Mode, and that is indicated with three bars at the top of the handset.
For most areas, the Body Mode is sufficient.
Wear your IPL Safety Glasses, and make sure you skin is clean and dry. Do not apply any lotions or creams before the treatment.
Place the handset on the skin vertically. The hair removal sensor indicator light will light up to indicate that it is in full contact with the skin.
If AutoGlide is enabled, the IPL will discharge every .7 seconds.
If AutoGlide is disabled, the user can press the button to discharge.
Go over entire area of unwanted hair.
For the first 4 weeks, this should be repeated 3 times a week.
At 5-12 weeks, once every week or two.
My Experience:
I am currently only two weeks in, but I will update this article with my experiance and results.
I am treat my legs, underarms, and bikini area and so far my experiance has been pretty easy.
I have not experiences any irritated skin, blisters, or side effects.
Since I am shaving every few days it is hard to tell if I am seeing any results yet.
My Likes:
- Administering treatments to myself is very easy.
- Each treatment takes about 20 minutes.
- Completely painless, it really doesn't hurt at all!
My Dislikes:
- While the treatments are easy, they are also very boring. That isn't the fault of the device, but I find myself rushing to get it done and then I worry I'm not getting complete coverage. Maybe I should start listening to a podcast or something. 😁
- The cooling fan is kind of loud.
- While the application site of the device doesn't get warm, the rest of the handset does, and that warmth makes it harder to hold as the treatment goes on.
None of my complaints are reason enough to stop the treatments, I just wanted to share my thoughts as I have been using it.
When all is said and done, and I have no hair, it will all have been worth it!
