Try this sweet and salty snack mix with double chocolate and crunchy bites. An easy treat that's perfect for movie nights or sharing.

You know I love putting together simple recipes with M&M's, and this one might be my favorite.
It came together one night when I grabbed a few things from the pantry-popcorn, pretzels, a handful of nuts-and tossed them into a bowl with chocolate. That mix of flavors just works.
It's one of those snacks that hits everything at once. You get the sweetness from the chocolate and candy, the crunch from popcorn and pretzels, and just enough salt to balance it all.
It reminds me a little of trail mix, but with more dessert vibes.

Ingredients
See the recipe card below for measurements and instructions.
- Milk Chocolate M&M's
- Popped Popcorn
- Cashews (or your favorite nut)
- Pretzels
- Milk Chocolate Chips
- Caramel Bits (optional)

This mix is easy to customize with whatever you have on hand.
The base includes popcorn, pretzels, peanuts or cashews, and chocolate. From there, you can mix in extras like almonds, pecans, or walnuts, depending on what you like. You can even toss in a handful of candy to change up the flavor.
Caramel bits are optional, but they add a chewy texture and extra sweetness that pairs really well with the salty snacks.
Caramel Bits are easily found in the winter for the baking season, but they are harder to find the rest of the year.

Double Chocolate Sweet and Salty Snack Mix
Ingredients
- 5 cups Popped Popcorn
- 1 cup M&Ms
- 1 cup Cashews
- 1 cup Pretzels
- 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup Caramel Bits (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the popped popcorn, M&M's®, nuts, pretzels, and caramel bits. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.
- Spread the mixture out in an even layer on a baking sheet.

- Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue heating in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the snack mix.

- Let the chocolate set before serving. If you need it ready quickly, place the tray in the freezer for about 5 minutes.

What Makes This Mix So Good
This snack mix works because of the balance.
The popcorn gives it a light, airy crunch, while the pretzels add a little more bite. The nuts bring in richness, and the chocolate ties everything together.
The mix of sweet and salty flavors keeps you reaching for just one more handful. It's the kind of treat that disappears quickly, especially when you set it out during a movie or game night.
How to Store Leftovers
If you have leftovers (which does not happen often 😄), this snack mix stores really well.
At Room Temperature
Let the chocolate fully set before storing.
Place the mix in an airtight container or zip-top bag.
Store at room temperature for up to 3 to 5 days.
In the Fridge
If your kitchen is warm, you can store it in the fridge to keep the chocolate firm.
Use an airtight container and store for up to 1 week.
