We have chocolate-dipped strawberries at our home all of the time - why? Because they are so simple and easy to make!!
I was surprised when several of my friends said they did not realize how easy they were to make. That means it is time for a recipe tutorial!
What’s the best chocolate brand to use for chocolate covered strawberries?
As with most recipes, the better the ingredient the better the flavor.
When it comes to the chocolate chips to melt for strawberries, I really like the Ghirardelli brand. They have a large selection so you can choose white, dark, or milk chocolates, as well as several other varieties.
For chocolate covered strawberries I prefer milk chocolate.
How to melt chocolate?
Chocolate is delicate and can easily be burned. This means the chocolate should be warmed evenly on low heat.
A more controlled method is with a double broiler pan. This lets you keep a constant eye on the chocolate through the entire melting process.
But you can also melt the chips in a microwave. This method can be a little bit more difficult and you have a higher chance of burning the chocolate since you can't watch as closely while the chocolate as it melts.
The best way to melt chocolate in a microwave is to half the power and only heat for 30 seconds at a time. Stirring between each interval. The amount of time it will take the chocolate to completely melt depends on the amount you are making.

First, wash and dry your strawberries. Water can seize up the chocolate so you really need to dry off the strawberries well.
Pour your chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl.
Change your microwave's power to 400, and place the chocolate chips inside for 30 seconds.
After the time, stir the chocolate chips in the bowl.
Repeat until you have soft, melted chocolate.
Place a sheet of wax paper on top of a baking sheet or plate.
Holding the strawberry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate.
Swirl it around until ¾ of the berry is covered and then place it on your wax paper.
If you would like, now is the time to drizzle more chocolate or any other toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, or crushed candy.
Let the strawberries rest as the chocolate hardens. If you would like, you can speed up this process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator.

Our Baking Essential List:
- For baking casseroles, we use Glass Baking Dishes. I especially like the dishes with lids so leftovers can be transferred straight to the fridge.
- Silicone Kitchenware is my favorite because they don't scratch my cookware and is easy to clean!
- A Glass Cutting Board is a must to prepare all of those ingredients. We even keep ours on our counter at all times.
- This Knife Set will also become your favorite! They cut beautifully, and with the hollow design of the knife, food doesn't stick to the blade.
