Make homemade almond milk at home as a dairy alternative and know exactly what ingredients have been used. These clean ingredients are the perfect addition to your recipes!

I shared a while back that I've been working on getting healthy. There's been times I've failed and times I've really pushed myself. The holidays are obviously a harder time to stay on track, but I'm doing my best, and most importantly trying not to feel guilty when I don't meet my goals. Cooking more has helped and today I'm sharing this Homemade Almond Milk Recipe that is perfect to use in smoothies! I'll be sharing a few my favorite smoothie recipes soon!
Almond milk is really not that difficult to make. It does require a few kitchen tools, but other than that it's simple! I use my Blendtec Blender and the Nut Milk bag (or fine cheesecloth) that Blendtec offers. If you are in the market for a blender, I have used this one for years and it is a must if you are a smoothie lover! But not only does it make amazing smoothies, but there are also so many different recipes you can use with this blender.
Dairy Alternative
Let's talk about the benefits of Almond Milk for just a second. I'm by no means a doctor or nutritionist. This is just information I've gathered and there are many more benefits, I'm just highlighting some of the most commonly searched-for benefits!
- It's low in calories
- Low in sugar
- Lactose-Free
- It can be used within many diet/eating restrictions
- And it just tastes good!
How to Make Almond Milk
For this recipe I actually decided to sweeten it a little bit because my primary purpose is to use it for smoothies, however, you can 100% leave out the vanilla and honey and use it as plain unsweetened homemade almond milk. You can also use honey or vanilla depending on how you'd like to use it.
You begin by using fresh slivered almonds and soaking them overnight, then you rinse and blend them with fresh filtered water
As I mentioned before the honey and vanilla are optional, but does provide an amazing flavor!
A requirement for Almond milk is to use a high-quality nut bag, which eliminates any almond skin and leftover almond pulp in the finished product. Once done you can easily store the milk in glass jars in the fridge.

This is such a good recipe! But good nutrition involves not only eating the right foods, but also vitamins, don't you think? It's important that the body gets its vitamins.
