Find out how to grow your own Easter grass from seed! It's easy and fun, and a great family activity too!
Have you ever grown your own grass to put in those Easter baskets?
It is a fun activity to do with the whole family! Your kids will love watching how fast this real grass grows and watching something they planted grow right before their eyes.
This will quickly become their favorite Easter tradition.
To give you plenty of time to grow your grass, plant about ten to fourteen days before Easter.
Supply List:

You can use any watertight container. I like plastic plant saucers because once the grass is grown, I can place the saucer in the bottom of your basket or ceramic pot without disturbing the soil.
All items can be purchased from your local garden store or online.
Instructions:
Fill your containers with potting soil or dirt mixture. Leave at least 1 inch from the top rim.
Fill an empty spray bottle with water and spray the soil to completely saturate until small water puddles form on the surface.
Sprinkle a single layer of wheat seeds on top of the soil. Be generous! It’s fine if the seeds overlap a bit, but no more than that.
Keep your containers near a water source, the soil must remain moist until all wheat has sprouted. Check a few times a day to be sure.
A spray bottle is a handy tool and will keep the wheat layer from moving about when you water.
Once all of the shoots start popping up( about 3 days), move the containers to a sunny window. They don’t need direct sun, any type of light is fine.
The soil will now only need enough water for growth, so cut back on watering and allow the heavy saturation to be absorbed.
Add enough water to keep the soil damp throughout the remaining process.
When you have beautiful long thick blades of grass, place the plastic plant saucer filled with wheat grass into the bottom of the basket.
This beautiful grass is a fun way to fill that basket and hold all of those colorful eggs from the Easter bunny.
The best part is that real Easter grass is so much better for the environment than plastic easter grass, and it is much prettier too!
And on the big day, you won't have to clean up all of those tiny plastic shreds of fake grass.
Happy Spring!
