How to Store Leftovers
Store leftovers in the fridge.
- Let everything cool completely.
- Transfer to an airtight container.
- Store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
You can store dumplings and broth together. Separating them seems like a good idea, but the dumplings dry out when stored individually.
Dumplings may soften after freezing, but they can still be frozen and eaten later for more extended storage.
- Cool completely
- Spoon into freezer-safe containers or zip-top bags. Leave a little space for expansion.
- Freeze for up to 2 months.
How to Reheat Leftovers
For the best texture, reheat on the stovetop.
- Add leftovers to a saucepan.
- Heat on low to medium-low.
- Stir gently and often.
- Add a splash of chicken broth, milk, or water if the broth looks too thick.
- Heat until warmed through.
Slow and steady keeps the dumplings tender.
Reheating with the Microwave (quick and easy)
- Place in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Add a little liquid.
- Cover Loosely.
- Heat in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each interval.
- Stop when hot, before boiling.
Reheat from Frozen
- Thaw overnight in the fridge when possible.
- Reheat using the stovetop method for best results.
- Add Extra liquid as needed since freezing thickens everything.
Common Mistakes to Skip
- High heat can make the dumplings chewy rather than soft.
- No added liquid, thick, pasty broth.
- Overstirring can cause the dumplings to break apart.
