Create tasty sausage-stuffed mushrooms with our easy guide. Perfect as a holiday appetizer or a special side dish for dinner.
Today, I'm sharing a recipe that's a hit at any gathering Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms.
These little bites of heaven are not only delicious but also incredibly easy to make.
Whether you're hosting a holiday party or simply want to elevate your dinner game, this stuffed mushroom recipe has you covered.
So, let's roll up our sleeves and get into the kitchen!
Recipe Ingredients:
- 20 White Button Mushrooms
- ¼ cup Chicken Broth
- ½ pound Italian Sausage
- ½ a medium Onion
- 1 to 2 Garlic Cloves
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ¼ tsp. Black Pepper
- 8 oz of Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
- 1 cup Shredded Italian 5 Cheese Blend
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tinfoil (for easy cleanup).
Start by browning your sausage over medium-high heat, breaking up the sausage as it cooks.
While the sausage is cooking, let's prep everything else.
Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and remove the stems.
Place 15 of the mushrooms in a food chopper and cut them into small pieces, remove and set aside.
Next, put ½ of an onion cut in half and the garlic cloves and chop until the pieces are nice and small.
Once the sausage is browned remove it from the skillet.
In the same pan add the chopped onions and garlic and stir for 2-3 minutes while everything gets nice and hot.
Pour in the chicken broth and continue to cook until the chicken broth is evaporated (about 2 to 3 minutes).
Add the chopped mushroom stems and salt and pepper.
Cook this until the mushrooms are soft and the moisture is mostly gone.
Remove the mushroom mixture from the heat and set aside to let it cool.
Add cream cheese and Italian cheese to the food chopper.
Pulse about 4 to 5 times and then the cheese mixture will be nice and creamy.
Scoop the cheese mixture into a bowl and add the sausage and onion mixture.
Stir the sausage mixture until well combined.
Place mushroom caps on a baking sheet.
Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sprinkle with some salt.
Now with a spoon begin filling each mushroom cap with the sausage filling.
Bake at 350º F for 20 minutes or until everything is browned and the mushrooms are softened.
How to Make Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 20 whole Mushrooms
- ¼ cup Chicken Broth
- ½ pound Sausage
- ½ medium Onion
- 1-2 cloves Garlic
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Pepper
- 8 ounces Chive and Onion Cream Cheese
- 1 cup Italian Shredded Cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tinfoil (for easy cleanup). Start by browning your sausage over medium heat, breaking up the sausage as it cooks.
- Clean off your mushrooms with a damp towel and remove the stems. I use 15 of the stems in this recipe - place the stems in a food chopper and cut them into small pieces, remove and set aside.
- In the food chopper, add ½ an onion cut in half and the garlic cloves. Chop until the pieces are nice and small.
- Once the sausage is browned remove it from the pan. In the same pan add the chopped onions and garlic. Stir these around for 2-3 minutes while everything gets nice and hot. Pour in the chicken broth and continue to cook the onions.
- Once the chicken broth is evaporated (about 2 to 3 minutes) add the mushroom stems and your salt and pepper. Cook this until the mushrooms are soft and the moisture is mostly gone. Set aside and let it start to cool.
- Add cream cheese and Italian cheese to a bowl and stir until nice and creamy.
- Place this in a bowl and then add in the sausage and mushrooms stems. Mix everything together.
- Put the mushroom caps on the baking sheet and drizzle with a bit of olive oil. Sprinkle with some salt.
- Fill each mushroom cap with the sausage filling.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 350º F.
- Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Our Baking Essential List:
- For baking casseroles, we use Glass Baking Dishes. I especially like the dishes with lids so leftovers can be transferred straight to the fridge.
- Silicone Kitchenware is my favorite because they don't scratch my cookware and is easy to clean!
- A Glass Cutting Board is a must to prepare all of those ingredients. We even keep ours on our counter at all times.
- This Knife Set will also become your favorite! They cut beautifully, and with the hollow design of the knife, food doesn't stick to the blade.

We make a lot of foods from scratch, so this would come in handy for a lot of things. We make a dressing/stuffing that requires just about every ingredient to be obliterated in a food processor, so ours came in handy around the holidays.
