As many of you know, my sister and I have a huge love for coffee. I, myself, have a pretty bad coffee addiction. One of the first things I think about as soon as I wake up is how long it is going to be until I take my first sip of a warm, eye-opening Jo so my happiness can begin. As all coffee lovers know, there are many ways to prepare coffee. I just happen to make mine in a Coffee Press
(affiliate link), which means I boil my water in a tea kettle beforehand. If you use a tea kettle often, then you may notice the bottom will loose its gleam and become cloudy over time. That cloudiness is a deposit of minerals that no amount of elbow grease could ever resolve. But guess what?! There is an easy, safe, and all natural quick fix - white vinegar!
I will be honest, taking photos of a Stainless Steel Tea Kettle 
(affiliate link) presents quite the challenge when trying to get the lighting just right without causing glare; however, I think you will be able to get the idea of how white vinegar does its magic. Below is the before picture in which you can see how cloudy the bottom looks because of the mineral deposits. Ready to conquer those mineral deposits?!
All you need to do in order to vanquish the deposits is to pour 2 cups of plain ol' White Vinegar
(affiliate link) and 2 cups of water into your tea kettle. Next, place the lid on the tea kettle and bring the water/vinegar mixture to a boil. Continue to let the mixture boil for about five minutes. If you are not use to cleaning with vinegar the smell can be over powering, but I promise it is in no way harmful (vinegar is also know for its odor neutralizing effects, believe it or not). After five minutes have lapsed, turn the tea kettle off and allow the vinegar to sit for at least a couple of hours. I do this before going to bed and allow the vinegar to sit over night.
When you open the lid, you will be amazed! You should be able to see a shiny and squeaky clean tea kettle bottom. There is no scrubbing required! How about that?! Just rinse well before starting your tea kettle. If there is a heavy build up you may have to repeat this process again in order to see clear results.

Now that you have a squeaky clean tea kettle, let's put it to use! Although I am an avid coffee drinker, I do enjoy a nice, relaxing cup of tea, especially when the cooler weather starts blowing in. My favorite way to enjoy tea is with a splash of milk and a touch of honey. As for my coffee, I enjoy sugar and vanilla cream. How do you enjoy your favorite cup of coffee or tea?

I'm an avid coffee drinker too! I was giggling as I was reading about how you anticipate your first sip...that's me too! I love my coffee with a little creamer and a Truvia packet. I, also, love tea with just a packet of Truvia...unless it is chai latte in my keurig 🙂

Thank you for that handy Tip I have been using White Vinager for descaleing for a while but never heard anything about bringing the solution to the boil for 5 minutes until now.

WAnt to keep the minerals away? Put 4-5 marbles in your kettle, they will collect the minerals and not your kettle and as a bonus you will know when your kettle is boiling dry as you'll hear them. Learnt this from my Grandmothers

I'm not sure, I've never tried using that specifically. It might not react the same way, but it shouldn't hurt anything so you could give it a try and see if it works. : )

Vinegar sure works wonders for pretty much every cleaning job. Toothpaste is also pretty good at making stainless steel objects shiny and clean again. It works also for chrome and silver. 🙂

Cloudiness is really unavoidable in case of tea cattle as well as thermos flask. No doubt that vinegar cleans it like a new one but I normally add a tablespoon of Lemon juice to the vinegar so that not only it cleans but also replaced the odor with refreshing smell.
