Hey everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. Today I thought I would share with you my wreath tutorial for the wreath I have on my Faux Mantel
First I am going to share with you how I to make the base of the wreath. How you want to embellish is up to you, but I'll show you what I did to mine to. I may or may not have cheated a little, but you'll just have to read through to see how cause it's kind of a secret ; )

and here is what it looks after I "embellished mine"
Here is what you will need for the wreath tutorial
{Supplies}
- Pool noodle or wreath form
- Duct tape (if you go the pool noodle route)
- Burlap
- Modge Podge
-Elmer's Glue
- Foam brushes
- Scissors
-2 packages popcorn kernals
{Tutorial}
one.
Take your pool noodle and determine how big you want your wreath, trim it accordingly and then duct tape the ends together REALLY WELL!
two.
Next I covered my wreath in burlap using modge podge. I didn't want my burlap to be perfectly smooth across my wreath form because I didn't want that perfect look.
three.
Now comes the time consuming part. Once you get your wreath wrapped in the burlap I took modge podge and painted it over sections of the burlap, then I sprinkled on the popcorn kernals. Once that dries, I did another layer of my homemade modge podge on top.
Home Made Modge Podge is just 1 part Elmer's Glue 1 part water. I mixed mine up in a mason jar and shook it until it was mixed up.
The reason I did this was because the modge modge you buy is quite thick and kept pulling the kernels off when I would brush over them. This is a lot runnier and got down in the crevices really well.
You just keep doing this until your entire wreath is covered. I found that since you have to let each section dry before you can move on, it helps to point a fan on it.
four.
Next I added the strap at the top to hang the wreath from.
I just took a long strip of muslin and ruffled it. Then I took a strip of canvas that was a little bit wider and sewed the ruffle strip straight down the center. Then I tied a bow at the top to hang it from.
And that's it. After all your hard work you will have a popcorn kernel wreath!: )
Now, like I said, this is just the "base" of the wreath. I added this lovely stem of leaves from Hobby Lobby. Remember how I said I cheated a little? Well...instead of attaching the leaves to the wreath I just stuck the stem inside the mason jar below it. hehe... sneaky right? It just worked out perfectly, the leave covers the stem so you can't even tell what I did. Check out my Fall Mantel for how exactly I did all that

tricia
I loved your beautiful wreath so much that I made my own. However, it is really heavy and I'm having a hard time hanging it. I wanted to put it on our mantel over our mirror. I tried tucking the thick burlap garland I used in replace of the canvas but I can't get it to stay. Any suggestions? Thank you! love your site!
Katie
Hi Tricia, a little trick I use is to turn one of the 3M command hooks upside down behind the mirror to help keep it in place. Hope this helps! : ) I would love to see how yours turned out!
Cheyanne
very simple and pretty!
Jennifer
Do you do the kernels over the entire surface (front and back)?
tricia
I made this wreath years ago. It turned out just like this one. I loved it, but it was too heavy to hang anywhere. Unless you are just going to prop it up somewhere, I'm not sure it is worth the time or money.
