Make easy cinnamon waffles with cinnamon swirl cake mix for a quick breakfast that tastes like cake and waffles combined.

Cinnamon waffles are one of those breakfast ideas that instantly feel cozy and fun, especially when they start with cinnamon swirl cake mix.
This waffle recipe is all about turning a favorite cake flavor into easy cinnamon waffles that feel a little extra without the extra work.
They are perfect for slow mornings, family breakfasts, or anytime you want something sweet.
I had been wanting to try cake mix waffles, and they have quickly become one of those recipes I make over and over again.

And of course, you will also need a waffle iron.

Cinnamon Waffles Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 box Cinnamon Swirl Cake Mix
- 2 Eggs
- ½ cup Milk
- Cooking Spray
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 box Cinnamon Swirl Cake Mix, 2 Eggs, and ½ cup Milk. Stir until well mixed. It will still be slightly lumpy and that is okay.
- Add the cinnamon mixture from the cake mix. You can add as much or as little of the mixture as you want. I usually do only half.
- Preheat the waffle iron and spray it with Cooking Spray. When the iron is hot, spoon the waffle batter into the iron and close the lid.
- When done cooking, remove the waffles, spray again with cooking oil, and spoon more batter into the hot iron. Repeat until you are out of batter. Depending on the size of your waffle iron, it should make between 8-12 waffles.
Glaze (optional)
- Sugar glaze is delicious on these waffles! Grab my Glaze Recipe here.
Nutrition
All waffle irons are different, so make sure you understand how yours works before using it.
My waffle iron has a light that turns off when the waffles are perfectly golden brown, so there is no guesswork.
You can top it with maple syrup, or I like to drizzle on a sugar glaze made with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. It is entirely optional, but man, it is good!

How to Store Leftovers
Leftover homemade waffles store really well, making them great for make-ahead breakfasts.
In the Fridge
Let the waffles cool completely, then store them in an airtight container or zip-top bag. They will keep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
In the Freezer
Once cooled, place waffles in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until firm. Transfer them to a freezer bag or an airtight container with parchment paper between layers.
Homemade frozen waffles stay good for up to 2 months in the freezer.
Reheating Tips
This makes homemade waffles just as easy to grab as the store-bought ones!
- A toaster or toaster oven works best for crisp edges
- Oven at 350º until warmed through for larger batches
- Avoid the microwave if you want them crisp, as it softens them
