September is National Waffle month and along with a bunch of other bloggers we are having a Foodie Extravaganza all about Waffles! You can see all of the delicious recipes at the end of this post. #FoodieExtravaganza
One of my favorite cakes is Cinnamon Swirl cake. I have seen people make cakes in their waffles and I have always wanted to try it so I thought this would be the perfect time to give it a try.
I started off with my favorite Cinnamon Swirl Cake mix and mixed it according to the directions. Mix, milk, eggs - then mixed it up.
Then I mixed in half of the cinnamon mixture (you can add it all in if you want a big cinnamon flavor).
Making sure my waffle iron was nice and hot I sprayed it really well with non-stick spray. I sprayed it in between each batch of waffles - if I didn't the waffles would stick and comb out in crumbs - yet still just as tasty! Pour some batter on the waffle iron and let it cook. This is what happens when you don't spray it well enough or let it cook long enough - a bunch of pieces - still tasty though!
My waffle iron has a light that goes off when the waffles are done. I felt these needed a teeny bit more time. If I pulled them off to early they would come off in pieces
But when I cooked them just right they were perfect! I drizzled on some glaze I make from powdered sugar, milk, and lemon juice. You can see my glaze recipe in my blueberry puff pasty post. These turned out really good and were perfect for a little breakfast or yummy dessert.

I saw a recipe a while back for baking brownies in a waffle iron and I thought that was pretty neat. Now with this, you have motivated me to bake cake, Summer! Great idea!
