Create a unique and neutral Modern Leather Fall Wreath with this easy to follow tutorial. And when the season is over, just update the flowers.
I won't lie, Fall is my favorite season, and to be honest it has nothing to do with pumpkin spice anything. It's because of the weather. I've determined that I don't like extreme heat or extreme cold. I'm also totally ok with cloudy days so Fall just works for me. We've been so busy with remodeling our kitchen, the upstairs kitchen, the bathroom and more so I'm SUPER excited to get back into decorating a little. I'm really hoping to knock out painting my living room soon! We have however finished our front porch and I just so happened to start decorating it with this Modern Leather Fall Wreath.
I'm very impatiently waiting for our front porch to dry out so I can paint it. For now I'm just enjoying being able to sit on it in the mornings and evenings. I'll still do a porch post this season, but I'm not sure I'll get around to painting before the winter. Fingers crossed cause I really want that done!
I'm joining a group of bloggers today to share some gorgeous wreath ideas with you (make sure and visit them via the links at the bottom of the post)! It's been a while since I made a wreath. I think the last Fall wreath I made was the wooden hexagon wreath from 2014. Wow... that's really crazy when you think about it! Sometimes it amazes me how long I've been blogging.
Modern Fall Wreath
I'll be totally honest, I didn't get the best process photos because we refinished our living room floors this weekend. I may have made this in a hotel room and then tried to photograph it once we got back home. But it's easy and you'll get the gist!
Supplies: (this post contains affiliate links)
- 14" Styrofoam Wreath Form
- Leather Lacing (I used 3 in medium brown from Hobby Lobby)
- Black Leather Lacing
- Floral Stems
How to Make a Leather Wreath
I won't lie, this wreath isn't exactly a super fast process. You literally just wrap the leather lacing all the way around the wreath. Because the inside of the wreath isn't the same circumference as the outside you'll have a little bit of the wreath form showing through the leather. Just make sure to keep the inside edges right next to each other for the tightest fit.
To make this not noticeable I colored the wreath in black sharpie. I know some styrofoam melts with sharpies so just make sure you test it. I really only used a sharpie because I was in a hotel room! : )
When I had ends of the leather lacing I just tucked them under to keep them in place. You can also tie a knot if you want.
Once the wreath is wrapped in the leather you can just lay out your florals. I snipped the stems off and bunched them up. To hide the ends of the stems in the middle I wrapped that in the black leather lacing.
Neutral Fall Wreath
So it's not difficult per say, just a little more time consuming than my usual project! But I think it turned out perfect for Fall. And since the florals are just tied on you can easily transition from season to season by just changing out the florals.

An easier version would be to squat, step back into plank position (rather than jumping), then step back up to standing, leaving out the pushup and the jump at the top of the move. You can also modify by doing the pushup from your knees as you build strength. Once upon a time I couldn’t do a full burpee either- now I do them every day!Christini's take out

Me and a few girlfriends would like to get together and make this wreath. How much brown leather lacing do you need per wreath? You instructions say you used "3 in medium brown from Hobby Lobby". Is that 3 spools? Thanks!
Ashley
Yes, I believe I did use 3 spools. You may be able to find some on Amazon that are bigger spools though. Have fun! I'd love to see pictures!

Ok -- I'm so impressed you did that in a hotel room! We also just had our floors resurfaced, and there was no way I could've pulled a DIY project off during it! But now that everything's back to normal I can't wait to try making this wreath this weekend, thanks for the inspo!

I agree with your points about the importance of sustainability in business. It's encouraging to see more companies taking steps to reduce their environmental impact and make a positive difference.
Susie
Love this! About how much leather lacing did you need? I am actually going to make a new wreath for my front door…for the first time in 4 years. 🙂
Susie
Oops, saw the amount in the beginning :-/
