Bath Bomb Ingredients:
Gloves are completely optional.
I wore gloves because I had a sore on my hand that would hurt when it came into contact with some ingredients.
Bath bombs make a great gift! If you are making these for that purpose I would also recommend using gloves.
Instructions:
Pour the isopropyl alcohol into the spray bottle. You will need it later.
In a large bowl, mix together the baking soda and the cornstarch, and set it aside.
I used my gloved hands to stir the mixture but you can use a spoon if you prefer.
In a small bowl that is microwave-safe, combine the almond oil and emulsifying wax.
Melt in the microwave at 50% power for 30-second intervals until the wax is completely melted.
Add the drops of essential oil to the liquid mixture and stir.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
I liked using my hands for this step because you can feel when the clumps are gone.
It kind of has the consistency of wet sand.
Take a handful of the dry mixture and squeeze it in your fist.
If it crumbles when you release, spray in a couple squirts of the isopropyl alcohol and remix.
Repeat until the mixture holds its shape after being squeezed.
Climate can affect this. If you are in a dryer climate you may need more alcohol, if you are in a humid climate you might not need as much.
Stir in the citric acid until evenly combined.
Divide the mixture into two bowls.
If using the same microwave-safe bowl as before, make sure it has been cleaned and no oil residue is left in the bowl.
To one bowl, add 1 teaspoon of dried lavender buds and stir.
To the second bowl, add a dash of the violet mica powder and stir.
In one half of the mold, add ¼ teaspoon of the dried lavender buds.
Then fill the rest of the way with the white bath bomb mixture. Pressing it into the mold until it is overfilled. Set aside.
In the other half, press the violet mixture until it is overfilled.
Push both halves together.
Slowly twist one side of the mold to remove it, and then repeat for the other side.
It came out perfect and so pretty!
Let dry for 24 hours before packaging or using.
