My boys always love building train tracks, let's be honest they enjoyed tearing them down even more. But hey, whatever keeps their little brains occupied is fine by me! As a female, I'm all like let's build a city and drive the trains around pretending to make deliveries. But come on... they just want to throw all the pieces! If you've ever had a traditional train table you know how unbelievably huge they are!! Nobody has that kind of space for ONE toy!

I've seen many different versions of train tables, some even roll under beds. I love the idea of storing the table out of sight, but I know my kids don't want to sit on the floor to play. So I combined my need for storage with my love for industrial pipes and devised plans for this Space Saving DIY Train Table.
It's big enough to make little train sets, but not so big it takes over your whole house! My favorite part is that the legs are detachable and can be stored with the table top under a bed, in a closet, or any other thin storage place you might have. That way if you have family coming over, or just want your kids to take a break so they will enjoy it more in a few weeks, it doesn't have to sit in the middle of your house!

Those train sets do take up a bunch of space. The table is a clever way to deal with it.
