Simmer Pot Tips and Tricks
A simmer pot is my favorite way to fill my home with a cozy scent.
There are many different ways to do it, so feel free to use the method that works best for you.
Many people put a simmer pot on the stove and will simmer all day.
I prefer to use a crockpot. Since all of the ingredients are basically food or spices, your regular crockpot is fine. There is no reason to purchase one specifically for simmer pots.
I simmer all day on high with the lid off. At night, I turn the crockpot to low and place the lid on.
In the morning, I add more water and more spices if needed, then return the heat to high.
I have had some simmer pots last up to 4 days!
Since I am not eating the contents, I am not worried about overcooking. I just keep adding spices and more water until the aroma is gone.
To make it last even longer, you could refrigerate the mixture overnight and reheat it during the day.
