When we moved into our house about a year ago there was one thing we knew that had to be done - the carpet. It was a lighter color and you could see the wear and tear in high traffic areas. The carpet padding was also lacking in the comfort department. It wasn't an immediate concern, but definitely something that was constantly in the back of our minds.

Meet Emmet... my 70 lbs, hairy, giant puppy. He's not really a puppy, but he certainly knows how to act like one! But really...isn't he seriously the cutest thing ever? I forgive him for all the things!
When Home Depot approached me about trying their new Pet Proof Carpet line as part of their LifeProof Carpet I was ecstatic. After living here for almost a year with 3 kids and a dog I knew our carpet was only going downhill and the time had come to replace it! I did a little research and this carpet seemed like the perfect fit for our crazy, messy family!
As I mentioned earlier our carpet wasn't in the best condition to begin with and we had lived on it for almost a year. This guy had done his fair share of damage. It had seen dog vomit, dirty wet paws and pretty much anything else that dogs can do to carpet has been done! Although I'll brag a little... he has never used the restroom on it! My kids now... that's a whole different story, lol!
Now that we have our new Life Proof Carpet that is specifically designed to be “pet proof” as an answer to the toughest pet stains I can rest a little bit easier about those mishaps!
Pet Proof carpet is the perfect addition to animal-friendly homes because pet owners expect the unexpected. This carpet provides the benefits of 0% moisture absorption to reduce pet odors in the carpet fiber, NanolocTM spill and soil shield for quick and easy cleanup making it 3X easier to clean dirt, hair and pet dander.
When choosing the color I think I talked to my husband for hours about it! I didn't want to go to light or too dark. I did know I wanted the carpet to be speckled because it adds some dimension to it! We did finally come to an agreement on the style Whirlwind II in the color Carrington Beige. I was a little concerned because I definitely didn't want it to look overly beige. We were able to bring home the color sample board from Home Depot and I looked at it in all different lights compared to my walls and under the couch to see how it would look next to everything. It ended up being the perfect beige color with just a little bit of gray to make it the perfect shade of warmth without being too warm! We also upgraded the pad to memory foam making it the softest carpet we have ever had!
Not only did the carpet pad make it more comfortable but I have to comment on how soft the actual fibers of the carpet are! It feels amazing under our bare feet, and my kids actually lay on our floor now!

How has your carpet held up?
Katie
We actually don't live in that house anymore, but we did have it for a full year and it was just as good the day we moved as it was when we moved in. It was by far my favorite carpet we ever had. Full disclosure we upgraded to the memory foam padding underneath, so I'm not sure if that played the role in how it held up, but I've encouraged family replacing carpet to look into this type. : ) Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
