Cricut Design Space
For the following steps, I'll be using Cricut Design Space.
If you use Silhouette Studio or a different design software, your steps may be different than mine.
To start, upload the SVG into Cricut Design Space and add it to your Canvas.
The completed box measures 4 x 2.5 x 2 inches, but you can resize this project as needed.
Before cutting the box, a few adjustments need to be made to the file.
Highlight the design and Ungroup.
Highlight only the center green lines.
Change the operation of these lines to score.
On a device, the path is Edit, Operation, then Score.
On a computer, change the operation from the menu at the top of the screen.
Once the line has been changed to score, those lines are now dashed.
Lastly, highlight those score lines and the box outline, and Attach.
The design is now ready to be cut. Click Make and choose the material. I am using the 65lb cardstock setting.
When cutting paper, increase the pressure to More, then follow the prompts as to when to load and begin the cut.
Paper Piecing
To begin, I assemble the cute little piggy.
I like to use precision glue because the fine tip helps me control how much glue I apply to the back of those little pieces.
All pieces are glued on top of the dark gray base piece.
I started with the larger face piece, gluing it so that the gray border was even around all sides.
Then, I can fill in with the smaller ear and nose pieces.
I center the larger body piece for the pig's body, then adhere the hoof pieces.
He is so cute, all assembled!
Gluing
Decide which side will be the front of your box. It doesn't really matter.
Apply glue to the back of the pig and center it on the front near the top.
There are many individual letters to adhere to, so I devised a trick to keep them all straight.
Apply a length of washi to an old gift card or credit card so that only a small part of the tape is exposed.
Adhere the letters to the exposed washi tape, face down and in the opposite order.
Apply glue to the back of the letters.
Turn the gift car over so the letters are right side up. Center the letters on the front of the box, then press them to adhere.
Carefully pull up the gift card and washi tape so the letters stay on the box.
Repeat for the second row of text. Now, all the letters are adhered and neatly spaced.
Box Assembly
Fold the score lines using a bone folder to get a crisp edge.
Place the paper box with the face down and right side up.
Fold the first section right side up and apply glue to the tab.
Fold the right flap over. It should align perfectly with the tab.
The top and bottom tabs then fold in to complete the box.
I added glue to the bottom tab to make the box more sturdy, as it will hold heavy candy.
Final Thoughts
This box can hold several handfuls of kisses, and the finished treat box is ready for gifting. It is so cute!
While adding the Kisses to the box, I thought I should have bought some Hugs too. That combination of candy would have been perfect! 😂
But the options aren't limited to Hershey Kisses. You can fill the box with just about anything! Cookies, chocolate truffles, nuts, anything to satisfy a sweet tooth.
