Building a home or planning a Kitchen Remodel? These tips will help you choose the perfect kitchen appliances for your home!
When we first started talking about building a house, I had been dreaming of a 48" range in our kitchen. I love the extra space and double oven. In our last kitchen we didn't have the space for a larger range, but we did go with a 36" range that offered a double oven. I was a huge fan of that feature, especially during the holidays.
As our house comes together and I look at our kitchen, it's absolutely surreal. We've honestly never had a house where I love the kitchen layout. They've always been small, awkward, separated from everything, not to mention we were often in the middle of a kitchen renovation wherever we lived. I don't mean to complain. We were always grateful for the kitchens we had, and they served our family beautifully. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ecstatic about being able to design this kitchen from the ground up so that it functions for our whole family! My husband and I both work from home too so a lot of time is spent in our home and it was very important for us to enjoy being there all day! Let's talk about the appliances for our new build, and some tips that will help you choose appliances for your build or remodel!
Things to Consider when Choosing Appliances
I'll jump right into it. We decided to go with Zline Appliances, with the exception of our fridge. (A huge thank you to Zline for partnering with me on a product discount, I'll be sharing all the details about these amazing appliances soon!) Another thing on our list with the 48" range was built-in, integrated fridge and freezer columns. This isn't something that Zline offers, however they did just release their first refrigeration unit, which I would recommend taking a look at if you aren't wanting to spend the money on the integrated columns. But before we talk about the specifics of our appliances for our new build, let's discuss what you should consider when choosing appliances.
What is the design aesthetic of your kitchen?
This is one of the first questions you should ask yourself because it narrows down your search. I recently shared the design aesthetic for our house, and it helped us figure out what direction we wanted to go with our appliances. ZLINE Stainless Steel and DuraSnow® Ranges are available with interchangeable doors in a variety of classic colors. Interchangeable range doors bring personal expression into the dream kitchen. Ask yourself questions like: Do I want my appliances to be a bold statement? Or do I want my appliances to blend in? If you want something bold, you could go with a black range or even one of their many colors. For a more seamless look, choose a built-in appliance look.
Budget
Budget is probably one of the most important factors when choosing kitchen appliances. Take some time and figure out how much of your kitchen budget can be put towards appliances. If you are going to be doing any panel-ready appliances, don't be afraid to mix brands since they won't visually look different. There are a wide variety of appliances in all different budgets. Figure out what is most important to you, and look for those items while narrowing down your search.
Size
Size is very important for multiple reasons. It affects cabinet layout, budget, and the flow of your kitchen. It's essential to decide on the size of your appliances before you begin designing your cabinets. Not only do you need to think about the size of your range, but there are different options for fridges. You can go with a standard fridge, counter depth, built-in, or fully integrated. There are also different types of dishwashers. You can go with drawers or a slide-in. Then, if you choose to go with ice makers, built-in microwaves, wall ovens, etc those will all affect everything else as well!
How you use your kitchen
There are several options outside of the typical kitchen layout you might be able to consider depending on your situation. I always suggest walking through a typical day in your head to get a feel for the flow of your daily life. Are you somebody who enjoys cooking multiple times a day? Do you need a lot of freezer storage? Here are a few non-typical things you might consider doing:
- A larger range
- Extra large fridge in the kitchen with freezer in the pantry
- Installing two dishwashers
- An ice maker in the kitchen or pantry
- Integrated fridge/freezer columns (these can be up to 36" wide each)
Wasters and Dryers
I can't forget about washers and dryers even those aren't technically in the kitchen. I have pretty much one rule when looking for washers and dryers. Read the reviews. I spent hours and hours confirming that the washer and dryer set my builder quoted was in fact what I wanted. They must have come to the same conclusion I did, which is why they suggest them! I'll definitely be reporting back on these because I don't think I've ever loved my washer or my dryer!

It's great that this article talked about the importance of considering the design of your home to identify the best match. My aunt told me last night that she was hoping to find a new and advanced refrigerator for their home, and she asked if I had any idea what is the best option to do. You did a great job of explaining how appliances may last, I'll be sure to tell her that she can consult a trusted kitchen appliances store that can help her with all her needs.

Regular cleaning and filter changes are necessary to ensure that the system runs efficiently and avoids any build-up of dust, dirt or mold. Additionally, it is important to check for leaks or blockages in the system as these can cause a lot of damage if left unchecked. Finally, it is best practice to have an annual inspection with an experienced HVAC technician who can diagnose any potential problems before they become more serious issues. super general ac
