Get the tutorial for this Modern Christmas Wreath that easily transitions through the holidays along with 25 additional Christmas DIY Projects!

Today's post might look a little familiar, and that's because it's the same wreath form from my Fall Wreath. I told you that this wreath was a little time consuming but that it would be worth it because it easily transitions through the seasons. So let's take a look at how we can turn this Fall Wreath into a Modern Christmas Wreath.
Now, since we live in Wisconsin and winter pretty much lasts til May, I like to make sure that as much of my Christmas decor as possible can transition into winter because I leave it up for quite a while. I do take my trees down, but I can pull off cozy winter for a while!
Modern Christmas Wreath Tutorial
Like I mentioned, this wreath does take some time, but only to wrap the leather around the wreath form. Adding the faux stems is literally just wrapping some ribbon around and making a few knots.
Supplies: (this post contains affiliate links)
- Leather wrapped wreath - Get the tutorial here
- Black leather lacing
- Wide Green Velvet Ribbon (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
- Black and White Plaid Ribbon - (mine is from Target last year)
- Faux Stems - Mine are all from Hobby Lobby, but any craft store will have some to choose from!
Leather Wreath Form
Let's go ahead and assume you've made the leather wreath form, because technically you still have time to do a Fall Wreath (if you're reading this right when I posted it). I just removed my floral stems to start from a blank slate. As you can see there is a gap in the leather, but only because I ran out and that's where I put the stems to cover it up. : )
Christmas Stems on a Wreath
Next I just laid out the floral stems I decided use on top of the wreath. Then you can just simply tie a little bit of black leather lacing around the stems. I had leftover lacing from the fall wreath, but in all honesty you could use anything.
Emerald Green Velvet Ribbon - Christmas Wreath
Once all the stems are correctly placed, simply wrap the green velvet ribbon around all the ends to cover them up. I didn't glue it or anything, I just literally wrapped it around.
Black, White, and Green Ribbon Decor
Finally to tie it all together, literally and figuratively, tie one more layer of ribbon over the velvet to synch it all together. Make sure this ribbon is a little thinner than the base ribbon because it just allows it to sit there beautifully in the background.
That sums up my Modern Christmas Wreath for this year. Who thinks I should turn this into a Spring and Summer wreath too?? 😉
