DIY Wooden Bowl Candle Holder

It's time to kick off a new season here on Cherished Bliss. And I mean that quite literally. Fall is on its way and today is the first of the seasonal posts. I did a poll on IG a few weeks ago and the majority of you enjoy seasonal posts. To be honest I was surprised at the number that doesn't prefer seasonal posts. With that said, I'm trying to take a realistic approach to my holiday posts this year. I will be sharing things that can for the most part transition to different seasons or be used all year long. I'm sharing my first project - A DIY Wooden Bowl Candle Holder alongside a lovely group of ladies! I was scrolling through Pinterest recently looking through some gorgeous Fall Inspiration and I ran across some beautiful wedding decor. I saw these little mini wooden bowls on one table and immediately thought it would be the perfect way to display candles. Of course they had sourced gorgeous mini live edge bowls. But no matter how hard I searched I couldn't find them online. I did however run across these cute little wooden bowls at World Market for only $1.99!

Using Candles in Tablescapes

I'm planning on using these candles in my Fall Tablescape. However, I just haven't made it that far considering my actual dining room table is in the basement. I should probably bring that up. Since I don't have a full tablescape ready for you, here's the color scheme I'm planning on. I'm thinking I'll throw a few mustard-y type colors in there, but overall I'm drawn to organic colors right now so that's what I'm going with.

Make Your Own Candle Holders

Supplies:

• Mini Wooden Bowls (these are salt bowls)
• Candles
• Knife to cut wax
• Tin Can
• Tongs

DIY Wooden Bowl Candle Holder

These are very easy to make and you probably have everything you need on hand, except maybe the bowls. Let's start....

Melt Candle Wax on Stove

The first thing that needs to be done is melt enough wax to fill the bowls around the candle. To do this I broke up a candle and put it in a clean tin can. Then I placed that can in a bot of water and let it come to a boil until all the wax was melted. Then when it's time to fill the bowls, use a pair of tons to remove the can and pour it gently into the wooden bowl.

It will completely liquify, then you can turn off the heat and let it sit in the hot water until you are ready to pour.

Set Candle in Place with Wax

It's important to make sure the candle can sit securely in the bowl before moving on to the next steps. To do this I took a lighter and melted off the bottom end of the candle and let the wax drip down into the center of the bowl. This not only gives you liquid wax in the bowl, but softens the bottom of the candle. Once you have a few drops in the bowl, press the candle in place and hold it upright (straight) until the wax begins to harden and can balance without falling over.

Once the candle has dried in place, it's time to fill the remaining of the bowl with the melted wax.

Using tongs, remove the tin can from the hot water and pour it gently until you reach the level you want the wax to dry to. Make sure your candle is still upright because you have time to hold it in place until the wax stiffens.

Let the Candle Wax Dry

Let the wax dry and all will be complete. It can take some time to completely cool, so just be patient. I know it's hard... but seriously... learn from my mistakes! Once they are dry they are ready to use or display!

I can't wait to use these pretty little guys on my table, but for now I did throw them up on my shelf just for fun! But can we chat for a second about how perfect these would be for wedding decor. I'm picturing tons of them on a long table out in the woods!
