We all know it's a little bit harder to make things for boys so I am so glad to get some inspiration for my son.
I'm Randi from Dukes and Duchesses and I'm so glad to be at Cherished Bliss, taking part in this fun series. I love Christmas and I love handmade gifts!
I have a little guy who's all boy so I came up with a simple gift that he would love: a spy journal.
I started with a simple lined notebook and sewed a camouflage cover for it. I kept it super simple with a rectangle for the outer cover sewn to two other small rectangles that the notebook cover slides into {you can sew a similar cover by measuring your notebook and then adding a seam allowance to each piece}. You can see the inside cover below.
I sewed a small rectangle of chalk cloth onto the inner cover. It's a fun spot for my little guy to write his name or take some special notes.
The journal has a patch sewn on the back that holds waxed cord in place. The cord wraps around the front of the book and ties closed. Privacy is the name of the game when it comes to spy journals.
My favorite part of the journal is the "top secret" lettering on the front. I used heat transfer and cut the letters with my Silhouette {the font is billie kid}.
The heat transfer I used glows in the dark so my little spy will be able to find his journal anytime.
I know my little guy will love keeping track of his observations and secrets in this little journal. I hope you'll have fun with it too.
And I hope you'll pop over to my blog and say hello!
Thank you so much for sharing this adorable tutorial here today Randi!
Make sure you hop over to her blog and say hi! : )
