Create a gorgeous Neutral Spring Mantel by mixing simple pieces, texture, and spring greenery. These tips will help you style any fireplace!
I think I've mentioned this before, but outside of Fall and Christmas time, I tend to stick with pretty neutral things. I've never really gone crazy with the Easter decor or the 4th of July. So today I use the term "Spring" Mantel pretty loosely. I'm really more inspired by a feeling. To me, Spring represents a fresh start, clean, airy, and pops of greenery and/or buds. Today I'm sharing our Neutral Spring Mantel Decor along with some talented ladies (links at the bottom), welcome to our home!
I tend to keep the mantel pretty much the same because I always change up the built in shelves right next to it. I've tried putting things on the mantel and it always ends up looking too cluttered. I guess when I find something that works I just kind of stick with it! 😉
Neutral Spring Mantel Decor
I used some stems I've used in the past, I just went with a different vase. These stems always make me feel like Spring though. They remind me of the dogwood trees that bloom in the Spring when the weather finally gets warm enough on a consistent basis we can finally put away all the snow stuff.

I'm also pretty sure I've used those candlesticks for YEARS now. They absolutely are a classic in our home! I believe they are still available at Hobby Lobby!
Neutral Spring Mantel & Shelf Styling Decor
Next to our fireplace is some built ins that were here when we bought the house that I've since painted white. I'll be honest, I struggle with these shelves so much, but this time it came together pretty quick. Maybe I'm getting used to them, haha! They are wide, but not to wide, the distance between the shelves can be a little awkward, and they are rather shallow. But it always works out, sometimes I just have to stare at them and will them to look good for a few hours ;).
I think I've finally learned over the last 2 years to focus on the two upper shelves and ground the bottom shelf with something big and simple like these baskets. Whenever I try to do something on the bottom it always feels overcrowded.
Spring Decorating Ideas
Last fall I actually shared a few tips on how I go about styling shelves if you want to read through that. But essentially I just start with a focal point (larger item) and then begin filling in the gaps going from the bigger items down to the smaller items last. Then I make sure to keep colors, tones, and textures balanced. I rearrange things multiple times until it just looks right!
And like I mentioned earlier, because the shelves next to the fireplace have so much going on, I don't really do much on our mantel. It's pretty shallow anyways so I thing this adds a nice balance in combination with the vertical shiplap.
I can't wait to do a little refresh on the rest of our house for Spring as we prepare to put it on the market! It's already feeling so much brighter and I'm here for it!
This week I'm joining some of my talented blogging friends for the Spring Seasonal Simplicity Series! We're all sharing some inspiring mantel decorating ideas with you! You can see each mantel in more detail by clicking on the links below each image.

So pretty! Where did you find the baskets that sit on the bottom shelves? Something like that may be the solution I need for our built-ins. Thanks!
