Welcome to our Modern Rustic Spring Home Tour featuring an open-concept living and dining room with simplified, neutral decor.

Well I had big plans to get my kitchen all clean and ready for our Spring Home tour, but that didn't happen given everything that's going on right now. I did manage to photograph our living room and dining room so I guess I'll just have to share my Kitchen in the coming weeks. Hopefully some nice weather is soon to follow so I can start on the outdoors too! For now please enjoy our Modern Rustic Spring Home Tour.
Our entryway is still a work in progress, but you can see the finished part in the picture above. This room is just one of those spaces that seems to take forever to get just right, but patience is important when getting a space just the way you want it to function.

As you enter the entryway and take a turn you are welcomed into our Formal Dining Area.
I went simple on the table with this large planter I snagged at Hobby Lobby paired with some faux stems. I love getting fresh clippings from the outdoors, but right now my only option is sticks. And that's why faux stems are great if you are looking for repeat uses.
I picked up this table runner to break up all the darker colors. One day I will replace this table and chairs because I'd like to have something a little brighter and more modern. If you have a similar problem you can always break up tones with textiles and texture.
Large Planter on Dining Table
It also pulls together the white chair I have at my desk and the white curtains on the other side of the table.

Our living room and dining room are one big open space. Which is great for an open feel, but sometimes I find it challenging to work with this long space. It's not very wide so furniture placement is important.
Since it's still cold here I mostly added some faux plants, neutral decor and throw pillows.
I shared our Spring Mantel last week and it really brightened up our living room. I mainly focused on incorporating some greenery into our shelves and a pop of white flowers on the mantel.
Spring is an excellent season to shop your home, and personally I feel like this is the season when my home looks it's most "normal". Fall and Christmas have such specific decor elements and decor and Spring and summer feel a little more timeless.
Living Room Media Console
It's a simple time. Time for a fresh start and new beginnings. After being cooped up all winter it's about finding that breath of fresh air in your home, and enjoying a clean slate.
I'm trying to embrace some empty spots and not feel like I have to have something on a surface just because it's there. I felt like I needed something on top of my desk and I played with it for hours, but with the built ins by the fireplace it was just too much.
