Last year was my first ever white elephant gift exchange.... I know I know, how have I missed out on all those! They are seriously the funniest thing ever (just in case you've never done one either). The whole point is a gag type gift. People were giving each other junk from around their house.... Ok, it doesn't sound fun, but it is! I promise ; ). One lady brought a picture frame of some old family photos... people actually fought over it! If you have the chance to do one... definitely do it! So this year we are doing another one and I am officially prepared with my fake box of Gingerbread M&M's!
White Elephant Gift Idea
I went to Wal Mart and of course the candy caught my eye, and I saw these new Gingerbread M&M's and thought this would be such a fun gift for our next white elephant gift exchange! By the way, if you are dying to try these, they are exclusively sold at Wal Mart, and I just so happy to have a coupon for you... cause we all love coupons right?
So I grabbed a few packages of these new Gingerbread M&M's and headed off to find the perfect box to create my gag gift! Let's make one shall we! Here is what you will need...
Supplies:
Gingerbread M&M's
Adorable Box
Paper, newspaper, or something you can fill the box with and glue the candy on (I used some packing paper)
Low temp glue gun (a normal one might melt the chocolate although I didn't actually try)
Tutorial:
First just stuff some of that paper down in the box to fill it up about ⅔ of the way. The fold some paper to a size that's just a little bit bigger than your opening of the box.
On the square piece you just folded, start gluing on your M&M's with your low temp hot glue gun. I just sort of dropped mine on there so it looked natural, and then applied pressure until dry. You do have to work fast with the low temp glue though, it dries pretty quick. Once you have your square covered in M&M's just bend it, and push it down into your box. If you see in gaps or places that make it look obvious, just put some glue on a few individual pieces to fill in those gaps! And BAM, you now have a white elephant gift that is sure to trick someone...maybe, but at least they'll laugh at your attempt, hehe!

How fun!!! I love white elephant gift exchanges!! I always have several things that I've picked up over the year and that have been given to us to use for a white elephant gift exchange. Since my daughters are teenagers, all their friends have these parties at Christmas time. The stuff we get is hysterical!!
