It's official, Christmas is in full swing here on Cherished Bliss! I've only shared a few projects, but soon my whole house will be full of Christmas joy! Last week I shared how I transitioned our Cozy Fall Tablescape right in to our Cozy Christmas Tablescape. Today I'm going to share the tutorial for these Mini Wreath Christmas Place Cards found on our tablescape.
Even though a lot of times it's just my husband, three kids, and myself for dinner there is something special about using place cards. It makes the kids feel special and teaches our children basic dinner manners. I look at it as a learning opportunity for them should we every attempt to take them out into public, hehe!!
These Mini Wreath Christmas Place Cards are a very simple project that you can easily include your children on!
Supplies:
- 3" Mini Gravevine Wreath
- Martha Stewart Crafts ® 2oz Multi-Surface Metallic Acrylic Craft Paint - Gold
- Plaid® Brush Sets
- Faux Christmas Berry Stems (floral department of local craft store)
- Paper (textured)
Mini Wreath Christmas Place Cards Tutorial
Start with just a plain 3" mini grapevine wreath. You can often find this in your local craft store.
Then, using your Plaid® Brush Set apply the Martha Stewart Crafts ® 2oz Multi-Surface Metallic Acrylic Craft Paint in gold to the grapevine wreath. I love this particular paint because it's metallic, but isn't overwhelming and is the perfect amount of gold!
I just brushed the tops of the wreaths, but you can do the whole wreath if you wish.
While those are drying I took another brush and barely dipped it into the same paint in order to add a little gold to the red berry stems. You can see the difference below. Just be sure and not have too much paint on your brush during this step.
While everything is drying you can prepare the paper and write your guests name down. I used some old paper I've had for a while, but a thin, textured paper would work just as well. I simply tore it rather than using scissors so that the edges wouldn't be a perfect, clean cut.
Now you just have to assemble your Mini Wreath Christmas Place Cards. To do so I stuck the red berry stems right into the grapevine wreath. I like being able to change things out, so I didn't glue them in place. If you would like yours to be permanent you can hot glue them from the underside of the wreath. Then place your paper with names right on top of the wreath.
Now it's time to set your Christmas table and invite guests over, or plan a fun dinner for your family!
Do you entertain a lot? I'd love to hear your ideas on how you make those dinners special! Stay tuned for more Christmas projects!!
