How to Make Pom Poms with the We R Memory Keepers Pom Pom Maker
I am going to show you how to make a pom pom using the medium pom pom maker tool. The instructions are the same no matter what size you are making.
The fiber I am using is yarn, but you can really use any thin fiber like string, embroidery floss, or ribbon.
When using a skein of yarn, make sure to find the strand coming from the center of the skein. This will keep the yarn coming out smoothly and won't get all tangled in itself.
The pom pom tool has two sides that fold out from the center. Start with one side and wrap the yarn around both of the blue arcs. Keep wrapping until the entire side is full. The more you wrap with the yarn the fuller your pom pom will be.
Close the wrapped side into the tool and trim the yarn off.
Repeat for the other half, wrapping about the same amount of yarn as you did before.
Cut a strand of yarn that is about 6-7 inches and set aside.
Now we are going to cut the yarn wrapped around the tool. Don't worry, the pom pom maker will hold all of the cut strands in place.
Run a pair of sharp scissors through the groove on the pom pom tool and snip the yarn. Do this to both sides.
Take that extra strand of yarn you cut previously and wrap it around the middle of the tool. Tie a knot and pull as tight as you can. Tie another knot so it holds the pom pom nice and tight.
Now you will have strings hanging from your knot. You can either trim these short or leave them long if you want to tie the pom pom to something.
To remove the pom pom, open the blue arcs on each side of the center circle and then pull each side of the tool apart. The first couple of times the tool is very tight, but it loosens up over time.
Pom Poms can be made very quickly with this tool and it's a great thing to do while watching TV or in the car!
