Ditch the paper and go for something dad will actually keep! This DIY wood-burned Father’s Day card is easy to make and has serious handmade charm.

Can you believe Father's Day is just around the corner? Well today I have a fun little DIY project that is perfect for any man! It involves wood and burning things? Need I say more?? I love including my kids in Father's Day gifts... they are so cute and I love everything the do, so naturally this seems the way I should go! I also like to make things that will last and my husband can put in his office year round. The natural conclusion here is to burn wood right?? ; )
Aren't these adorable?? They are so much faster to make than it sounds. Unless you burn lots of wood... then you know how quickly it can go!
Supplies:
- 1x6
- Wood Burning Tool - please please please use all caution when operating this tool!!
- Cute kids... or your own hands, either one ; )
Tutorial:
Are you ready for this? I sure hope so!
It's quick
It's easy
It's self explanatory
It's pretty awesome!
Cut your 1x6 to an appropriate size for the hands you are tracing. Then sand down any rough surfaces and trace your hand onto the wood. Then let your kids write their names on the top if they are old enough. : )
Using your handy dandy notebook wood burning tool, trace along your pencil markings and BING BANG BOOM you are done!
I also asked my kids if they wanted to put a little message on theirs so I wrote that for them since my kids write like they have to fill the sky with one word!
To get my 10 month's old hand traced, I did it on paper first, cut that out, and traced it onto the wood. His hand print looks a little disproportionate, but if you have a baby that you try and do this with, you will understand the difficulties in that!
So do you know a dad out there who loves wood and burning things? Yeah... I thought you might! : )
And today is your lucky day! I have 11 more Father's Day Ideas for you to browse through! Check out what my friends are up to! : )
