I finally finished my first baby project. You wouldn't believe how long it is taking me with all this moving and our closing getting pushed back. But it.is.happening. Slowly but surely! I'm going to share with you my DIY Burp Cloths.
I wasn't really planing on having a "theme" but rather just a vintage style, well it seems I have unintentionally turned this into a travel themed nursery (still vintage though). There are tons or tutorials out there for burp cloths, so I'm just going to give you a quick run down on how I created mine. They are super fast I promise!
Simple How-To Burp Cloth Tutorial
- Wash your fabric and your burp cloths before you sew. Burp cloths drastically change their shape after their first washing!
- Measure how the part you want to cover with fabric (this could vary from package to package). Mine ended up being 5 ½" x 17" which includes a little extra so you can press under the raw edge.
- Press the raw edge under about ¼", then pin in place.
- Start sewing around the edge, try to stay pretty close to the folded edge so you make sure to catch what you pressed under. I even used a fancy stitch on the ones with the camera fabric. I thought it just made it a little extra special. : )
*tip - make sure your bobbin thread is white so you don't see it on the underside so noticeably.
That's it, you are done. Easy right?
You wouldn't believe how excited I am to finally get back to decorating and sewing (my true passions!) I feel like I have been unable to do either of those with all the moving and renting. We are supposed to be moving into our house before the end of the month, but it's already been pushed back twice so we shall see. In the meantime, I'm trying to hurry and finish some projects up for baby Adam before we move, and before he gets here! Only a few weeks left.... eeeeek!

I've made similar, themed pillowcases for my kids and their friends with iron-on decals you can put in your printer or copierprint a message or clip art onto the paper, and iron it on anything.I got it at Michael's.this is a great idea, never though of burpcloths!
