After 6 weeks of working not only on this room but on our whole house, I can finally say we have one room complete, a pink and gold girls' bedroom for my little girl!
This space pushed me harder than anything else in terms of design.
My daughter is bold, bright, and very girly. I'm more black, white, and neutral (my son is totally my style).
But creating this room really pushed me, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. I've never felt so accomplished!

The Design Goal for this Girl's Room
For this room, I had to bring not only my vision to life… but also my daughter's vision. It gave me a little peek into what working with clients might feel like. Luckily, my daughter is pretty easy to please!
Once I put up the board and batten, I knew I wanted to paint it a color rather than the traditional white. My daughter was completely on board, and she's always wanted gold incorporated… which I actually love!
I wanted this room to feel modern, yet delicate, because that's totally her personality.
It needed to be girly without making her feel too grown up, but still be able to grow with her (classic mom dilemma).
And the biggest must-have? A giant desk, because she loves to draw and basically do anything involving paper.

The Desk Area + Cute Office Finds
My daughter loves any form of office supplies, so when I ran across a few pieces at Hobby Lobby, it felt like the perfect fit. Especially paired with her ghost chair.
The Hanging Chair Moment
Speaking of chairs… this hanging wicker chair seriously makes the room.
Update: This particular chair is no longer available, but here is an alternative hanging chair.
It's definitely her new favorite spot, and she looks so adorable sitting in it. I just want to squeeze her and keep her little forever. ❤️
Those Hardwood Floors
I've always wanted hardwood floors. It's been a dream for a long time, and once we refinished these, I knew exactly why.
They make my heart happy… and honestly, they pull the whole room together.
The Rug Choice (aka the Anchor)
The area rug was my little exception to the pink and gold theme.
It definitely has pink, but I wanted something that grounded the space, an anchor to break up all the soft, feminine touches without taking away from them.
The Nightstand Poll (and My Gut Decision)
You might remember I took a poll about the nightstand.
I showed a fuzzy ottoman and a more traditional gold nightstand… and wow, you guys really did not like that ottoman. 😂 I think like 80% of you told me to walk away.
But I just couldn't. It was calling my name, and I knew my daughter would love it.
I truly appreciate your opinions (you've helped me with a lot!), but sometimes you've gotta go with your gut.
I'm glad I did, because it fits her personality perfectly and is a super functional piece.

Thank you! I did paint both sides of the closet door. The main door to her room isn't installed yet... SHHHH lol!! But it will be pink on her side, and then the outside will a really dark gray almost black color to match the rest of the doors in the house. : )

This room is gorgeous! But I've gotta ask....it looks like you removed the wall-mounted air conditioner. Did you guys install ventilation throughout the house, then? Or will all the bedrooms just be crazy hot in the summer months?

Hi Stacey, we live in Wisconsin so air conditioning isn't a must have, however we do have forced air heat so we plan on adding an air conditioner next summer that will run through our current duct work which does go to all the rooms in the house. : )

What a nice job, you did a wonderful job. After looking at the before/after I realize the taller wall treatment fits the high ceilings really well as do the very tall curtains. I most definitely love the windows that have side hinges and open! Wow, how cool is that! The best about the new room is that it is done to perfection, not over the top. I'm so sorry, I don't quite rememebr. I usually use Rustoleum paint, and I believe it was just their standard gold. I know I did not use a glossy gold though. Hope that helps a little!
