This easy tutorial will teach you how to make mini crochet Easter baskets. They're perfect for holding small treats or adding to your spring decor.

I wanted to add a handmade touch to our Easter celebration this year, so I made a cute little crochet Easter basket for each of my kids.
They’re the perfect size for holding a plastic egg, a few jelly beans, or even a tiny toy.
I am so excited to hide them so my kids can find them Easter morning.

Please Note: This tutorial is meant for those who already know the basics of crocheting and is not meant to be a pattern but rather a tutorial on how I completed the project.
Straight Edge Crochet Basket
I made the green one for my son, and it was the easier one to make. It is just double crochets all the way around!
To start, crochet a flat circle for your base.
ch 3, sl st to join.
dc in loop with as many stitches as you wish.
Then, keep increasing until you get the diameter that you want.
Once you are happy with your diameter and sl st your final st, ch 2, and dc in the front loop of each stitch.
This will give you the sides of the basket. Keep double crocheting until you are happy with the height.
Once you sl st your last stitch, don't fasten off.
To make the handle, ch 2, dc in next two stitches, turn, and repeat. Keep going until you are happy with the size of the handle and sl st to the other side of your basket.
Scallop Edge Crochet Basket
To make a basket with a bit of a scalloped edge, follow the same instructions above for the base until you complete the round with the double crochet in the front loop.
Rather than just continuing with the dc, I did shell stitches around. Continue that until you are happy with the height.
For the handle, chain 30 and slip-stitch to the other side, repeating two more times, going back and forth.
Final Thoughts
I'm a pretty slow crocheter, and these work up really fast! They're great for a last-minute project.
To make the cute little tag, I used a self-inking Easter stamp on canvas scraps I had lying around.
I tied it to the basket using baker's twine! It adds such a cute little touch.
Pro Tips for Crocheting
- Use cotton yarn for a stiffer shape
- Customize the size by adding rounds to the base
- This mini basket is an excellent yarn-busting project!

I crocheted my little man a full sized Easter basket this year, but I am kinda in love with your tiny ones. I also really liked your 'pattern' - that is totally the way I crochet. I have to go back and count stitches to make a pattern.

Cute baskets! The double crochet one turned out great. However, the shell stitch ones are not. I did 20 db in loop for diameter, sl st. Do I do one row of db before starting shell st? After first round is shell st, do I reverse and go the opposite way or just continue on for the next row of shell stitches?
Thanks for your help.

I loved your tutorial for the baskets. I made two of them with different yarn but used the same hook size. To see a photo of my finished baskets look on Instagram nanasnotions. I am new to Instagram and would love to follow you but I'm not sure how to locate by website address.
