Living Room Update | A New Chair

I'm very excited to start sharing peeks into the different rooms of our new place with you. We're actually staying in my in law's basement apartment until we figure out what area we want buy in, so I won't lie... decorating this space is proving to be a little challenging. It's got some awkward spaces and walls to it, but we are slowly figuring it out and today I'm here to share our most recently decorated space with you... our living room.

And just for reference sake, here's the before shot. It's the wall on the left where our tv stand and chair now sits! I'll be sharing lots more pictures as I continue finishing spaces!

I actually started to put this space together with our old tv stand and it just wasn't working for me, so I told my husband that we were going to have to build a new tv stand... in two days! He looked at me kinda crazy since I'm in the middle of writing an ebook all about building furniture and I already have about 5 unfinished projects sitting in my garage. But hey... when you need a tv stand, you need a tv stand right? I'll also be sharing the plans for this in case you are interested ; )

I think adding seating to this space is the most difficult, mainly because the shape of the room, but we found a place for our new Grayson Club Chair from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart. My husband has been begging me to incorporate a chair into our living room because he's not a huge fan of sitting on couches... I guess that comes with being 6'4", ha! And he of course wanted the matching ottoman to prop his feet up. Not that I disagree, it's quite the comfy place to cuddle up! And did I mention that the ottoman has extra storage? It's kinda awesome in case you are a pillow hoarder like I am!

On the TV stand I added these fabric storage bins which I'm not completely sold on. I thought the were going to be a little more linen/beige colored, which when I go back and look at them online, I'm not sure why I thought that... wishful thinking maybe? But they will still go to good use cause they are actually super cute. I have them turned around here, but if you click here (affiliate) you can see the cute print on the front! So if I end up moving them, they will likely end up in the kids' bedrooms.

I used some of the galvanized metal trays from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart to stack some books and little decorative items on the lower shelf. When I built the tv stand I intended to put our dvd player there, but they I realized we moved the x box to a different room and we have Netflix on our tv so we actually don't have any electronic devices (other than the tv of course) in our living room... which I kinda love.
