One of my most favorite things of the Holiday Season is seeing the smiles my children, family and friends give me during Christmas. One of the ways I get great smiles is giving out gifts. I just love making things for them – seeing their smiles is such a reward to me! Giving is the Real Magic of the holidays! Today I am sharing something I am sure your friends and neighbors will love. #RealMagic I am sure you have all seen these cute Coke Bottle Reindeers before but today I have added a Coke Bottle Santa as well! I am so excited to hand these out to some of my close friends who share the love of Coke with me – it is my absolute favorite drink!
Coke Bottle Reindeer and Santa Tutorial
Let me show you how easy they are to make! Let’s start off with making the reindeer.
- Glass Coke Bottles
- Brown Pipe Cleaners
- Large Googley Eyes
- Red Pom Poms
- Green Ribbon
- Glue Dots – I used mini but I think regular size would be better
First is the anterls. You will need two brown pipe cleaners per reindeer. Wrap the first pipe cleaner around the bottle top and twist at the back.
Cut the second pipe cleaner in half and wrap/twist around each side of the antler – trim with scissors.
Using glue dots adhere the eyes and nose. Tie some green ribbon around the neck. I did use a glue dot at the back of the bottle to hold the ribbon in place.
I think they are so adorable and I just love their big eyes!
Okay now let me show you how I made the Santa Bottle
- Red felt – 5×5 piece
- Glass Coke Bottle
- 2 medium sized googley eyes
- glue dots – I used mini but thing regular size would work fine as well.
- pipe cleaner or wire
- Tacky Tape
- Cotton Balls
- Black Ribbon
- Soda PopTab
I first added Sant’as belt by using black ribbon and a soda pop tab like I did in my Santa Jar Craft. Get a tab from a Coke soda pop can and thread some black ribbon through it. To keep it secure on the bottle I used glue dots to hold it in place. I then added the googley eyes. I do this first so I know exactly where I want the hat.
To start off I added some tacky tape around the neck of the bottle where I wanted the hat to go around. I just love tacky tape – it is one of my most favorite craft supplies – I just love how well it holds and adheres my projects.
To make the santa hat I used some red felt. I put a piece of tacky tape on each side of the felt. On one side I added the pipe cleaner (cut to the same size). You could use wire instead of pipe cleaner – this is added to help the hat bend.
Wrap the felt around the tape that you have already adhered to the bottle
It should stick to the bottle and the tacky tape you put on the felt should let you seal everything up. Bend the hat over and it should stay bent because of the pipe cleaner/wire. Trim if the hat is too long. Add some tape around the end of his hat and add a cotton ball. Next add some more tacky tape around the bottom of the hat and pull the cotton ball apart a bit – stick to the hat and you have some fluffy trim!
Aren’t they so cute?
During this time of year while we are thinking of giving I reflect on how not every gift has to be expensive. In fact some gifts can be free. I find that when I give the gift of my time to help a friend. Or a gift of watching a favorite Christmas show with the kids. Making my kids laugh as we sing songs while baking Christmas cookies – I hope these memories last forever with them. I hope when they are older and look back at Christmas at home they will remember the feeling we had in our home, the happiness and how it felt to give to others. The gift of being generous in spirt and giving of oneself.
One way we can spread this gift is by making people smile. Who are you excited to spread the Joy of the Season with this year?
