Jewelry is a pretty amazing thing, it can completely change the look of your outfit for the day and help express your own personal style. I love my jewelry, even more, when it is handmade. There is nothing like getting a compliment on jewelry you made and being able to say “Thank you, I made it!” I love that feeling.

While strolling the online world of DIY Jewelry making, I found this super cute Ribbon & Pearl Necklace that I absolutely fell in love with and wanted to make right away.  I consider this an Anthropologie Inspired Necklace because it is unique and reminds me of something I would find in that store.

I have LOADS of ribbon, so decided this would be the perfect project to use up some of what I already have. I don’t have a big selection of beads on hand, but made due with what I had so I didn’t have to go to the store

Supplies Used: Some links may be too similar items when exact items couldn’t be found online.

  • 1/4-inch Satin Ribbon
  • Sewing Thread
  • Needle
  • Pearl Beads
  • Wood Beads

Chunky Beaded Necklace

This is the finished necklace from Moore Babies. The tutorial there is really quite good, so I encourage you to visit Moore Babies make your own Anthropologie Inspired Necklace.

This is mine. You can see how I alternated the wood and pearl beads, putting the pearls inside the tear drop shaped wood beads. I didn’t put a clasp on the necklace, instead I left the ribbon ends long so the necklace could be as long or as short as I wanted simply by adjusting the tie in the back.

It really is a lovely necklace and very light weight.

When I started, I wasn’t sure if it would work with the supplies I had but I think it turned out pretty good. I like it even more because it didn’t cost me anything!!
