Awkward wall spaces can be difficult to decorate. Read more and learn how to Hang a Gallery Wall with a few tips that will streamline the process.
We have been in our basement apartment rental for 4 months now. I'm not going to lie.... It's extremely challenging and frustrating for me at times. With 3 kids in a really small space, well, you can imagine how loud it can get. And we won't even talk about how I have nowhere to put anything. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful that we have a place to stay in this transitional chapter of our life. But as a blogger it does make my job a little more challenging.
One of the first things I do when we move is plan out where everything will go, but I feel like we are just now getting unpacked and I'm finally pulling some of the spaces together (4 months later). Our living room is right in the middle of the house so it makes sense to start there right? When Hayneedle reached out to me about a post on gallery walls I knew exactly where I needed one.
Right above our couch is this awkward dropped ceiling and it's not centered with the opposite wall (which drives me nuts), so I found that when I have a really awkward space gallery walls kind of defy the laws of symmetry in a way that I can tolerate, so gallery wall it was!
I haven't quite figured out what I will use this chalkboard for, but I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it online. It's set up to be a weekly calendar, which would be perfect for planning meals. Since it is in my living room that doesn't make quite as much sense, but I'll figure something out. Luckily it looks great with nothing on it too!
The furniture arrangement isn't easy in here. We are family of 5 so one couch doesn't quite suit our needs, so we made the decision to incorporate a chair. A second couch or love seat just wasn't an option size wise. My husband of course prefers a recliner that is all about comfort. Fortunately I found this chair and ottoman set that allows him to prop his feet up in a way that meets his level of required comfort and still fits my style!
Slowly but surely we are turning this space into our cozy little living room. It has it's challenges, but nothing should ever stand in the way of making a space your own! : )
How to Hang a Gallery Wall
This Gallery Wall is the first finished wall in our home and it is just perfect for us. I can't wait to see the rest of the spaces come together. I'll be sharing more of our living room very soon, along with our kids' rooms! And maybe, just maybe the kitchen too! Cause you know.... I like tackling big projects during the holidays, naturally! ; )

Great look!
I also love the wicker trunk you have purposed as your end table. Do you have your source for it?
If so, I would love to have it. My email address is listed below.
Thanks!
Nina
Can you tell me where you got your couch?

It looks lovely. We have just recently moved as well. We’ve downsized into a rather tiny apartment. I love the basket as a side table. I have been looking for a good idea for a small side table. You’ve inspired me to be on the lookout for a narrow basket.

I love how eclectic your collection of pictures is. And the overall look is so good, even though noting matches. Lovely.
