Make cooking easier with this DIY foldable recipe book stand! Free build plans are included to keep recipes propped up and ready to go.

I want to start eating healthier. We don't currently eat lousy food, but we could make better food choices. This begins with cooking more. Ugh!
I designed a folding cookbook stand to help me stay motivated.
I don't have much cabinet space, so I had to find something that wouldn't take up much space. Thus, this foldable recipe stand was born!
Skill Level: Beginner
Supply List
- Brad Nailer and Brads
- Circular Saw
- Palm Router
- Drill
- 4 1" Hinges
- Wood Glue
- ½-inch MDF Board
- ¼-inch MDF Board
Cuts
Use a saw to cut the MDF into the sizes below.
½-inch MDF
- 1 - 12" x 9"
- 2 - 6" x 9"
- 1 - 1" x 9"
¼-inch MDF
1 - 1.5 x 9 inches
How to Make a Recipe Stand
If you want to paint the wood, do that before assembly. It is much easier than painting after.
Start with the 9" x 12" piece and use a router to cut ⅜" dados along the 9" length of the board.
The first is 3 ½" from the top, and the second is 5 ⅝" from the bottom of the board.
Cut a 45º angle on one of the 6” boards, ensuring it measures 6” from tip to end.
Lay the 3 pieces end to end with the diagonal edge on the right end, tip on top.
Attach the boards using the hinges, making sure to center the hinge on the seams.
Attach the ledge pieces that will hold the book using wood glue and brad nails.
Attach the ledge to the recipe stand with wood glue and brad nails from the back of the 12" board.
Final Thoughts
I am absolutely in love! Now, I want to cook just to use my handy book holder!
It folds flat for easy storage in a cupboard or drawer. It is so compact that I keep it underneath the plates.
I often use a tablet, cookbook, or printed sheet to follow recipes. This recipe stand accommodates all of those options, making it very versatile.

I love this idea and it can hold more than just the cookbook but your ipad and looks like phone, love it! I saw on here a wall pot rack, that is what I am in need of. Our ceilings are not high enough for a ceiling pot rack. Love your ideas!! Thanks for a chance to win!

Thank you so much for this awesome opportunity! I used to have a few power tools (most given to me by my Dad, long before he left this earth. But a lady from whom I rented a room stole them from me - and I was never able to get them back.
I'd so love to have a few simple power tools so that I could make some simple projects - like this recipe stand - which is really awesome! I could so use this and know I could easily make one = IF I had the tools with which to do so.
Thanks again...Unfortunately, am not on Instagram so I have to stay with just one entry....fingers and toes are crossed....I just don't have time for more Social Media sites! I will remain hopeful...and thank you again fro the chance!
