Crispy homemade apple chips are an easy fall snack made with fresh apples, cinnamon, and a touch of sugar. Slowly baked until crisp, they’re simple and delicious.
Thinly and evenly slice the apples using a mandoline slicer. Remove any seeds from the slices.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets without overlapping.
Lightly sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake for 2 to 2½ hours, flipping the apple slices halfway through the baking time.
Remove the baking sheets from the oven and allow the apple chips to cool completely on the pans. They may still feel slightly soft when warm but will continue to crisp as they cool.
Notes
For crisp apple chips, slice the apples approximately ⅛ inch thick. Slightly thicker slices will produce a chewier apple chip. You don't need to core the apples before slicing. Leaving the core intact creates a pretty star shape in the center of many slices; simply remove the seeds before baking.Baking time may vary slightly depending on the apples' thickness and moisture content.
