Ingredients
12ozfresh or frozen cranberriesapproximately 3 cups, rinsed
½cupwater
½cupfresh orange juice with pulp
¾cupgranulated sugar
Instructions
In a medium sauce pan dissolve sugar in ½ cup of water and ½ of orange juice over medium low heat.
Then add cranberries and return to a gentle boil for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Serve warm or let the sauce completely cool.
Refrigerate until ready to serve if needed.
Notes
The sauce thickens as it cools. Garnish with fresh orange zest for presentation. Not only is this sauce a great addition to the Thanksgiving table, it also makes wonderful jelly for toast, bagels, and rolls. This recipe makes approximately 2 cups, double if needed.**If you prefer to not use the orange juice, you may replace it with ½ cup water for a total of 1 cup, and increase the sugar to 1 cup as well.
