How to Make Easy Homemade Peppermint Bark

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces Semi-Sweet Chocolate
  • 6 ounces White Chocolate
  • 6 ounces Candy Canes

Instructions

Prep:

  • Coarsely chop both of the chocolates, but keep them separated.
  • Remove the plastic from the candy canes and crush in a zipper bag with a mallet or rolling pin.
  • Pour the candy cane bits through a strainer to separate the larger pieces from the fine candy dust. Then keep the two separated in different bowls.
  • Line the bottom and sides of a 9x12-inch cookie sheet with wax paper.

Instructions:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocoalte for 30 seconds at a time until completely melted and smooth.
  • After each cycle, stir the chocolate well with a rubber spatula before placing back in the microwave.
  • Take half of the peppermint dust and stir it in with the chocolate.
  • Spread the melted chocolate mixture onto the lined baking sheet.
  • Repeat the same melting steps with the white chocolate.
  • After the white chocolate is melted, stir in the rest of the peppermint dust.
  • Carefully spread the layer of white Chocolate on top of the Semi-Sweet Chocolate.
  • Sprinkle the larger crushed candy cane pieces onto the white chocolate layer.
  • Allow the chocolate to harden completely.
  • Once it is set, use the mallet to break the bark into smaller, bite-size pieces.
  • Stor in an airtight container in a dark cool place.
