How to Make Swimming Party Invites & Swimsuit Cake Topper

April 30, 2020 By: Katie28 Comments

Throwing a swim themed or pool party? An easy DIY craft tutorial idea for a Swimsuit Cake Topper and matching Invites perfect for any swimming party!

My oldest daughter recently turned 10. Isn’t that scary! I can’t have 2 kids in the double digits – that makes me old!

For her birthday, she wanted to go to the local swimming pool with her friends. That also meant I wouldn’t have to come up with party games and try to entertain a gaggle of silly, giggling girls. SOLD!!

For the party, we went pretty simple since we were only coming back to the house for cake and presents.
Supplies Used: Some links may be too similar items when exact items couldn’t be found online.

  • Silhouette Cameo
  • Clothesline Swimsuits – cut file
  • White Cardstock
  • Patterned Paper
  • Glue Stick
  • Twine
  • Invited Stamp
  • 2 Bamboo Skewers

How to Make Swimming Party Invites

For the invites, I cut white cardstock into 4×6 squares, cut out the swimsuits out of different scrapbook paper, baker’s twine, and used a stamp set I had on hand for the invite.

How to Make Swimsuit Cake Topper

For the cake topper, I used 2 bamboo skewers, bakers twine and cut out two of each swimsuit so I could glue them back to back.

Tie a piece of bakers twine between the two skewer sticks.

Glue the 2 wrong sides together with the twine in between and towards the top so it looks like the swimsuits are hanging.

Tip: When in the Silhouette software make sure to mirror the second image so the fit together perfectly. I did not do this and the two pieces don’t match like I would have liked.

It already looks cute and it isn’t even on a cake yet!

Doesn’t it look even cuter when it is on the cake!

My daughter had a lot of fun at her birthday party, and that is the most important part!

So cute! I love the little bathing suits. I always seem to lose my theme with the invitations because I send them out and I don’t have a grasp on my party yet. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays.
