How to Make a Glass Etched Snowflake Candle Plate
Start in Cricut Design Space and create your design.
I started with a circle as my base and then added snowflakes to fill the circle.
When all of the pieces are where you want them in the design, highlight the entire design and click on “Slice”. Highlight and delete each snowflake until you are left with the circle and the snowflake shaped holes.
The color of vinyl you use isn’t important because the vinyl is going to act as the template and will be thrown away when the project is finished.
Once cut, weed the design. Since we are using this as a stencil, we want to keep the negative.
Lay a sheet of Transfer tape over the top of the vinyl design and carefully peel, removing the vinyl from the vinyl backing sheet. Then lay the design on top of the mirror plate and press into place.
Peel back the transfer sheet leaving the vinyl design stuck to the mirror plate. You only want the snowflakes to peek through the mirror so make sure to cover any open edges with painters tape.
Apply a thick layer of glass etching cream to the top of the mirror and let it sit for 15 minutes. Etching cream will only affect the open areas of the template.
After the 15 minutes, scrape off the excess etching cream and put it back into the bottle to use it again next time. Rinse the candle plate with water and remove the vinyl template.
This is how the candle plate looks when it is complete! Isn’t that awesome! Now, all it needs is some beautiful candles to hold.
I love this set of 3 LED candles. This set comes with 3 different height candles, and the outside of the actually is wax so they look like real candles!
I think they look beautiful on my new Candle Mirror Plate. The color glow of the candle is really picked up in the snowflake etchings in the mirror.
