I have been keeping a secret.... from my kids. We are surprising them with a puppy! A cute little fuzzy cuddly adorable Goldendoodle Puppy! But this little guy will be more than just a family pet. We will train him to be a therapy dog. If you've been around the blog long enough you know that we moved from Texas to Wisconsin 3 years ago leaving all our family. We all miss being around family, but I think my son took it the hardest. We were literally around family at least 5 days a week and then all the sudden they just weren't there anymore. Aubrey was 4 when we moved and he's 7 now. We thought it would get easier. We thought he would adapt, but the truth is he is homesick every.single.day! He's been asking for a dog recently so after much discussion, we will be bringing home a new family member at the end of April.
When we first started talking about getting a dog the first thing I knew was I needed on that didn't shed much. I have horrible allergies and living in a place where there is snow on the ground pretty much 6 months out of the year there is no such thing as an outside dog! My husband and I both like big dogs and have always loved labs/retrievers... so we decided on a goldendoodle. More specifically we are getting a F1B Goldendoodle which is a goldendoodle (half poodle half golden retriever) bred with a standard size poodle. So these puppies are 75% standard poodle 25% golden retriever making it more likely they won't shed! Plus they are just ADORABLE! When I went to pick out which puppy we would be bringing home I got to play pet photographer! I had so much fun doing this! I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I like to try ; ) So let me introduce you to the newest member of our family:
Emmet aka River (his puppy name)
I can't wait to train him. Once he's old enough we will take him to hospitals and nursing homes so that he can not only help our family but many others as well!

We are her grandparents having her three days a week and every night for dinner. She likes our house better. She does not shed at all which wonderful. Her parents are from the mid west , they were outside dogs so yours will adjust great. Have fun with the new puppy. It will change your lives.

Needed an industrial strength vacuum cleaner. Will be interesting to see whether the shedding gene has been suppressed by the introduction of poodle genes.
