So St. Patrick’s Day is this coming Monday so I am trying to get all my few decorations up in my home. Several weeks ago I was at the Wood Connection and they had a lot of cute items for St. Patrick’s Day, Spring and Easter. I picked up several things for Spring and they gave me the things I needed to make this Lucky Horseshoe. Last week I shared this Lucky Horseshoe tutorial on The Wood Connection site, and in case you missed it I am sharing it with you today.
The Wood Connection has everything you need for this project
- Horseshoe Wood Cutouts
- Paint (Hippo Grey, Quaker Grey, Charcoal or Black, Kelly Green)
- Crackle Paint
- Green Glitter
- Wood Glue
Step 1: Paint all of your wood. Paint the horseshoe Hippo Grey. Paint the small circles Quaker Grey. Paint the sign in Charcoal/Black. Paint the letters Kelly Green. Let dry.
Step 2: Following the direction of the crackle paint – paint the sign. Let dry. Once it is completely dry paint with Light Ivory. As it dries you will see it crackle – so cool!
Step 3: Now back to the horseshoe you will line the edges with the black/charcoal paint. Let dry.
Step 4: Pour the glitter onto a paper plate. Repaint the tops only of the letters in Kelly Green. While the paint is still wet dip into the glitter. Let dry.
Step5: Once everything is dry glue together using wood glue. Also attach the ribbon at the back of the horseshoe – the metal attachments come with the wood when you buy it. Hang it on your front door or anywhere in your home for some St. Patrick’s fun!
