Only 3 ingredients to make your own hand sanitizer when you can’t wash with soap and water. Below are the complete Hand Sanitizer Recipe and video tutorial!

Washing with soap and water is always better at killing those nasty germs, but sometimes that isn’t an option. Keeping a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car, or in your purse is a great option for those unexpected times.

Handmade Beauty Products:

Beauty products are fun to make and are great gifts for birthdays, holidays, or for any special event. We have shared a couple along the way, like this Peppermint Sugar Scrub, this Handmade Lotion for Dry Skin, and this Listerine Foot Soak.

Be sure to look around the blog for more health and beauty tutorial!

Hand Sanitizer Tutorial:

I am not kidding when I say this recipe is super simple!

Combining the ingredients in a glass measuring cup is very helpful because of the pouring spout. Mine holds 2 cups.

Begin by pouring 3/4 cup Isopropyl Alcohol.

measuring out isopropyl alcohol in a glass measuring cup

Measure out 1/4 cup Aloe gel and add to mixture.

adding 1/4 cup aloe vera gel

Add 30 drops of Tea Tree Oil.

Stir the ingredients together with a spoon for about 30 seconds.

Once the liquids are beginning to combine, it is time to whisk the ingredients together.

I used a small drink whisker but a larger whisker on a mixer would work as well.

Watching the mixture, you will be able to tell when it begins to thicken up. Once it is thick, that is when the Hand Sanitizer is complete.

Pour the Hand Sanitizer into Smaller Bottles:

The bottles I used are ones I found laying around my house.

My favorite container is a hotel shampoo bottle that I rinsed out. It is a perfect size and the lid is snap-on instead of twist-off so I feel pretty good that it won’t leak.

Place the small funnel in the opening of the container and slowly pour the Hand Sanitizer in.

Once full, remove the funnel and put the lid on. Shake the bottle and roll it around to check for leaks.

Now you have your own bottle of Handmade Hand Sanitizer!

If you are using a small spray bottle like the one above, you may have to add a little bit more Isopropyl Alcohol if the gel is to thick. But it is an easy fix.

To use, apply a dab to the center of your palm and rub your hands together. Continue rubbing your hands together for 30-60 seconds. You are not done until your hands are no longer wet.
