Crow and Candelabra Wood Board

September 4, 2015 By: Katie6 Comments

I have shared this Crow and Candelabra Wood Board on here before – about 4 years ago,  but today I am going to show you how easy it is to make.  When I saw the paper for this board I fell in love with it.  The black parts of the paper have a velvety texture to them.  I found this paper years ago and bought a bunch up.  I am down to only 3 papers left – so I have only three left in my Etsy shop .  You could use this idea with other cool papers that you find.

Supplies Needed:

  • Wood Board
  • Scrapbook Paper with nice image
  • Black Paint and Paint Brush
  • Paper Cutter
  • Black Ink
  • Mod Podge

Okay so let me show you how easy this is.  The board I picked out for this project is 5 1/2  inches wide and comes in different lengths.

Wood

I grabbed it in the finished wood section of Home Depot.

I measured and cut my paper to figure out how tall I wanted the wood and cut my board to about 1/2 inch taller.  My board is 10 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.

Next I painted the board black and inked the eges of my paper in black ink.

Once the board was dry I spread Mod Podge onto the board and then centered the paper and pressed it down onto the board/Mod Podge.  Press the paper everywhere to get out any air bubbles.  I use a plastic scraper/squeegie (you could use a credit card) to press the paper down and slide out any air bubbles.  Wipe off any excess Mod Podge with a paper towel and let dry.  The Mod Podge will dry clear.

So fun and creepy to put up for Halloween!

You can make this yourself or grab one of the finished ones I have in my Etsy Shop!

I always forget about scrap book paper. Such a great idea that anyone can do. No fancy craft tools needed. Would love if you shared this on the Spooktacular Link Party & Merry Monday party on Sunday.
