How to Make Christmas Tree Wrapped Cookies

September 23, 2020 By: Katie13 Comments

Christmas Tree Wrapped Cookies are fun neighbor gifts, teacher gifts, or co-worker gifts. An easy DIY craft tutorial idea that doubles as Christmas Decor. This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

If you are a follower of this blog you would know that I love to make and give gifts. I am so excited about this project because it is a super cute way to dress up a box of cookies to give as a gift, but even after the cookies are eaten and gone, the tree can still be placed on a table or mantle and become beautiful Christmas decor.

Let’s start with the cookies. These snack-sized boxes are the perfect size to give as gifts. I chose OREO, RITZ Crackers, Nutter Butter and Chips Ahoy! boxes.

I found them at my local Walmart in a large bin in front of the checkouts. They are priced at 2 for $3 and that makes gift-giving to a lot of people even easier.

The Cookie boxes are going to the base of our Christmas tree. Each box is a different size, so each box should be measured separately, measuring each side.

The Nutter Butter Box measured 2 and 9/16 by 2 and 1/8-inches. Cut a strip of brown cardstock 4-inches wide by 12-inches. Using a paper trimmer and the scoring blade measure 1-inch in, then score and score again in the measurements of the box so 2 9/16 after the first score line, then 2 1/8 after the previous scoreline, then 2 9/16, 2 1/8 and then one more score line 1-inch after the last.

Fold on the score lines and then wrap around the box and glue into place with a glue stick.

Tip: If you would like you can go without all of the measurements, simply wrap the paper around the bottom of the box. The scoring only gives the base nice crisp corners.

Paper Cone Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree is made out of a simple paper cone. To make the cone grab a pencil and tie a piece of string to it. Hold the string in one corner of the paper nice and tight and draw an arch with a pencil to the opposite corner.

Using a pair of scissors cut along the arch.

I found it helpful to give the paper a curve before I glue it in place. You can do this by pulling the paper tight off of the edge of a table or with a ruler.

Apply a strip of double-sided tape to the outside edge of the paper and the inside edge on the opposite side of the paper.

Rolling and adhering the cone is a little bit tricky. Roll the cone into the desired shape and remove the backing from the double-sided tape, and secure in place.

I decorated my trees with ribbon, but really the possibilities are endless here. There are so many different ways that you could decorate these trees. You could even color or draw on the trees, but if you do that I recommend doing that before you roll it into the cone.

Simply put the cone on top of the box of cookies and your Christmas tree is complete and ready to gift!

I showed these to my hubby and he immediately put in his order to give his team members at work. So I made a total of 7 cones, each of them different. It was so fun to see all of the different looks I could come up with.

I am so excited to give these Christmas Tree Wrapped Cookies and I might just have to make some for me so I can have beautiful cone Christmas Trees to add to my Christmas decor.

Janelle, As long as you had a box to put the homemade cookies in, I think definitely it would work. If you give it a try I would love to see what you come up with.
