Today I am sharing some cute cards made with Stampin Up Blendability markers. Stampin Up sent me the new markers that are being featured in their new holiday Stampin Up catalog . The holiday catalog just came out and they have lots of great things! You can find these new markers in their catalog and I think you will love them! If you haven’t had a chance to see the catalog you can see all of the new great stuff here.
So I made two adorable cards with the new Stampin Up Blendabilities Markers. I really LOVE these markers and can’t wait to get more! I also love making cards. I know that when I receive a handmade card it feels a bit more special because I know someone took a lot of time to make it just for me.
Thanks Cards with Blendabilities
Supplies Needed for Both Cards:
- Blendabilites Old Olive set
- Cards from the In-Color card Set (I used the pink and blue cards)
- White cardstock – for the blue card I cut a piece that is 5 1/4 x 3 3/4. For the pink card I used a piece that is 3 x 3.
- Sweet Briar Rose Stamp Set
- Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black
- Adhesive
- Dimensionals
- Fancy Fan Embossing Folder
Other Supplies Needed for Blue Card Only:
- Blendabilities Coastel Cabana Set
- Seasonally Scattered Thanks stamp
- Black Ink
Other Supplies Needed for Pink Card Only:
- Blendablilites Melon Mambo set
- White card
- Scallop Punch
- Amazing Birthday Thankful stamp
- Cherry Cobbler Ink
- Cardstock Pear Pizzaz (green) and Lagoon (blue)
- Venetian Crochet Trim
To start off you will want to stamp the Sweet Briar Rose stamp (using the black ink) onto both pieces of the white cardstock. On the one for my blue card I did a flower in each corner. I used the Memento black ink because that is what is recommended when using the Blendabilities Markers.
The blendabilities markers come in sets of 3. A light, medium and dark of each color. Today I am playing with Old Olive, Melon Mambo and Costal Cabana. Also each side of the markers have either a brush tip or a fine line tip. I love how this pack of three gives me options of shades as well as tip size.
I watched several tutorials on how to use these markers (there are a lot of good ones out there). At the end of the post I will share ones from the Stampin Up you tube page that shows how to use these.
I first did the leaves and stems with the Old Olive set. I outlined the center of the leaves, center of the flower and also the stems in the darkest color. I then went over everything in the lighter color.
Next is the funnest part – the flowers. I start by coloring one petal (or just a few petals) at a time and I you can go from either darkest to lightest or lighest to darkest. I tried it both ways and I found that I like it best when I do lightest to darkest.
Repeat with all of the petals!
Now lets make some pretty cards with these images!
For some texture I embossed the red and blue card using the Fancy Fan embossing folder. It is so pretty!
At this point I was playing with things and seeing how I wanted to do things. I stamped my sentiments in two different colors so I could see what I liked best for each card.
I embossed a green and blue piece of cardstock then used my scallop punch on the embossed pieces.
Now you can start using your adhesive and dimensionals and put the cards together. Here is my finished Thankful card
I took the pink embossed card and cut it down to size and adhered it onto a white card. I then took my stamped flower, cut it to size and used the scallop punch to do a cute punch on the corners. I then wrapped around some Venetian Trim and knotted it at the front. Using dimensionals I added my scallop cirlcles and Thankful stamp. I really love how this turned out – it is my favorite of the two!
Here is the finished blue Thanks card
This card is more on the simple side, but just as beautiful. I used a dimensional to add the thanks stamp to the front. Then I adhered the white cardstock to the blue embossed card. Isn’t it pretty?
