BBQ Essentials #SummerGetaway

My birthday happens to be on the 4th of July.  So one of my most favorite things to do is have a family BBQ for my birthday.  However, this year we will be out of town and not able to do our traditional family BBQ and fireworks.  So because we will be gone I thought it would be fun to throw a little Pre-Birthday  Family BBQ.  My kids were very excited about this and helped me plan what we wanted.  Today I am going to share some of our BBQ Essentials and want to thank World Market for Sponsoring our little Family BBQ!

 

BBQ Essentials

For a great BBQ you need great food, drinks and treats but I also think the little touches help make it more fun and special! Normally around our house we usually just have water and milk (except for my hidden stash of Coke that is all mine!) so when we have a little party I like to serve up our favorite punch, juice or even a delicous Cherry Limeade!  This is fun for the kids because it is not something they usually get to have.  To serve up our drinks I have this beautiful drink dispenser.  World Market also has so many other fun outdoor Dining & Entertaining items that I want!!

This punch dispenser is so fun and you could use regular plastic cups but when it is just my little family I have these washable red party cups.  The paper star straws were fun as well!

For food we love a good hamburger, grilled hotdogs or even some grilled cornish hens (you have got to try my marinade for that).  To serve them up I grabbed some burger baskets (which my kids absolutely LOVED) and some basket liners.  Fill it up with whatever your grilling along with some fries or chips.

I had several extra burger baskets so I filled them up with some fresh fruit – I had strawberries, grapes and watermelon – yum!

 

As with most families we love smores here. So when I saw this Smores Grilling Set I knew I had to try it.  World Market has so many other awesome BBQ and Grilling essentials!

 

We put some really big marshmallows on the skewers and placed the cookies and choocolate on the pan and placed on the grill.  While these turned out really good I think the big marshmallows were a little too much.  next time we will for sure try smaller marshmallows.

For some quick decor I used some of the extra basket liners to place around the table and to make a quick banner.

 

The kids had a lot of fun, enjoyed their food and Kayden even found a way to get into a little trouble (as usual)!
