How to make a DIY patterned serving tray. This is an easy DIY craft tutorial idea that will makeover a boring tray and turn it into beautiful home decor.
This DIY patterned serving tray is so much fun to make! This idea is one that I have been thinking about for quite a while but hadn't found the time to actually sit down and make it. I wanted a serving tray that I could leave on my coffee table as home decor, but available to use when needed. You could easily use a serving tray that you already had lying around a give it a bit of a makeover.

In Cricut Design Space I used two files, a solid triangle, and a hollow triangle, and created a fun pattern.
How to Make a DIY Patterned Serving Tray
I used 3 different colors of the metallic vinyl that came in the assortment package. The blue, silver, and copper. Cut the triangles needed out of each sheet.
The easy way to transfer the vinyl is to attach the same-colored triangles in Cricut Design Space and then apply color using Transfer paper. Since my serving tray is 20 by 13 that wouldn't work with the 12x12 sheets of vinyl. Instead, I cut out the number of triangles needed so each could be arranged on the tray by hand.
Start with the top edge and use the finished layout from Cricut Design space as a guide. The first row is the most difficult because you need to get the spacing right before you move on.
Then continue around the sides and along the bottom.
Once the spacing is correct all the way around the center triangles are very easy and quick to place.
Doesn't it look cool?
I filled the tray with a couple decor items to make a fun home decor piece.
Or I can use it to deliver some hot chocolate on a chilly day.
However it gets used, I am excited to finally have this project and get it out of my head.
